I’ll be perfectly honest. I didn’t pay much attention at all to ECW last night, and there’s a good reason for that. The show that I’ve said on numerous occasions is consistently the best wrestling program of the week lost three of the guys who gave it that distinction, as they’ve moved on to bigger and better things. C.M. Punk is now RAW’s World Heavyweight Champion, while Kofi Kingston is right behind him with the Intercontinental Title, and Shelton Benjamin should be re-debuting on SmackDown this Friday. That’s not to say that ECW doesn’t have the potential to still be the best show of the week – but it’s going to have to do better than last night’s show, which couldn’t hold my interest for very long. An interesting note is that all of the talent who wrestled on last night’s show were ECW Superstars, so perhaps the talent exchange with SmackDown went away with the draft. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The results and my thoughts, after the jump.

Mark Henry was challenged by Tommy Dreamer – which he agreed to accept if Colin Delaney could beat him in the main event.  Maybe the start of a push for Tommy, though I fully expect him to lose if he does wind up getting a shot.  He’s there to give Henry credibility as ECW Champion, and that’s all.

Matt Hardy, Finlay, and Hornswoggle defeated Chavo Guerrero, The Miz, and John Morrison in a six man tag team match.  Hornswoggle hit the tadpole splash, which pissed Chavo off, or something like that.  Meh.

Armando Estrada took on a newcomer by the name of Atlas Ortiz.  Ortiz has an interesting look to him.  Armando was faring pretty well but ultimately ended up losing.  Meh.

Mark Henry beat Colin Delaney after a World’s Strongest Slam.  I still don’t think we’ve seen the end of Tommy Dreamer in the title hunt, especially with Teddy Long as the General Manager.

For ECW, this show was pretty boring.  Usually this show is exciting and entertaining, but even The Miz and John Morrison couldn’t save it last night.  I’m hoping that the draft didn’t completely kill the brand’s momentum, but I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to see if this was a one-time snorefest, or if this becomes a trend for the Tuesday night brand.
