Hey Mr. McMahon, where’s my money?
By thinksojoe · · Leave a CommentI guess the odds aren’t all that great. After all, millions upon millions of fans signed up for Mr. McMahon’s Million-Dollar Mania, right? Realistically, Mr. McMahon doesn’t have to pay me to watch his television programming – I’ve been doing that on my own for over twenty years, sometimes paying him for the priviledge. But god damn (and yes, grammar nazis, I know it’s not grammatically correct to start a sentence with the word “but.”), how nice would it be to get a phone call during an episode of RAW from the chairman of the board himself, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, telling you that you have a chance to win some of his mun-ayyyyyyy? Needless to say that since I’m here at my regular job and blogging about Monday Night RAW, I wasn’t one of the lucky folks who won some of Mr. McMahon’s Millions this week. That doesn’t mean I didn’t watch RAW this week though, and for the most part, I enjoyed it.
The highlights of the show lamented on, after the jump.
The much anticipated heel turn of Y2J, Chris Jericho finally happened when he threw Shawn Michaels through the obscenely expensive Jeritron 6000HD, bringing back memories of Shawn Michaels throwing Marty Jannetty through the Barber Shop window all those years ago.
Mr. McMahon was essentially Rickrolled twice in his first giveaway, as the winner had Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” as his ringback tone.
Jeff Hardy scored a victory over John Cena with the help of Triple H. Afterwards, as The Game and The Marine faced off, The “Legend Thriller” jumped over the top rope and took them both down.
A sing-off between Jillian Hall and Trevor Murdoch was worth about $2 according to Mr. McMahon, and that was the prize he gave away to the next “winner.”
So, with this first week of Million Dollar Mania over, mixed reactions abound from fans. Some weren’t thrilled with it, others were legitimately excited about the posibility that their phone might ring with the Chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment on the line. For those of us who didn’t win this week, we’ve got another chance next week. I personally enjoyed the show, particularly Chris Jericho’s heel turn. Of course, they followed that up with a Cody Rhodes match and everybody fell asleep.
