  1. BoredWrestlingFan Radio Episode 102

This is exactly what Jorge will look like when he’s doing RWR tomorrow night.

This week, the crew discuss independent wrestling, as Joe and Jorge recount their experience at Empire State Wrestling’s “WrestleBash” event.  Joe, Jorge, JT, G, and Mark are joined by Topher of ProWrestlingPowerhouse, and unexpectedly by Doc Knight and KATANA from Original Stampede Wrestling.  We cover most of wrestling television from the week, discuss the lack of continuity in the Brie Bella/Daniel Bryan WWE television relationship, and ponder the absurdity that was the Michael Strahan/Titus O’Neil/Miz segment from RAW.  In the news, are the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships really being unified?  What did Matt Hardy think of RAW?  Where is AJ Styles going next?  And more importantly, how is The Dynamite Kid doing after his recent strokes?  All these questions are answered to the best of our ability on BWF Radio!  Tune in!

  2. WWE RAW 11/25/13 – Spears for everybody!

Last night, the seeds were planted for a unification of the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships.  Jorge wasn’t happy about it, but it left me intrigued.  What will happen tonight on Monday Night RAW?  Go watch and find out.  Let me know what happens.  Oh wait, that’s my job.  Shit.  Ok.  Forget G, I’m with Xavier Woods – It’s Morphin’ Time!

This is the part of the review where I’m supposed to explain how my reviews work.  But you guys already know how they work.  I watch a TV show, then I tell you what happened, so that I can save you three hours of your life.  Which means, this text is only here to keep up appearances before the fold.  So stop wasting your time reading this and click the “Click to continue reading ‘WWE RAW 11/25/13 – Spears for everybody!'” link.  You know you want to…

  3. Review: WrestleMania 2

This is it!  BoredWrestlingFan’s WrestleMania week is in full swing, which kicked off with the WrestleMania 29 prediction podcast.  My contribution to WrestleMania week this year will be reviews of the first six WrestleMania events, starting yesterday with 1985′s WrestleMania, and finishing up Saturday with a review of WrestleMania VI.  And don’t forget to tune in to BoredWrestlingFan Radio this Sunday at 2PM Eastern as I will be reporting LIVE from Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, the site of WrestleMania XXIX!

Wow.  WrestleMania 2.  I often say that the first thing I ever remember seeing in professional wrestling was a promo that Hulk Hogan cut prior to this show, talking about how he’s going to get that big dude (King Kong Bundy) in a cage at WrestleMania.  I don’t remember anything else between that time and WrestleMania V, but when I finally started following pro wrestling religiously, my uncle handed down some old WWF Magazines, one of which was a recap of this particular show.  I have seen the show before, but that was decades ago, and I was just a kid back then, so this will be another great experience for me on this year’s proverbial Road to WrestleMania.

Well, I have a better idea today than I did when I started yesterday about how I’m going to cover this show.  It’ll be mostly straightforward, unless I see a blatant opportunity for some wildly outlandish thing a la G’s SmackDown reviews.  Let’s go!

This week on BWF Radio, it’s the 2012 BWF Awards!  Joe, Jorge, JT, and Jee (Screw you and your one letter, G!) discuss the week in pro wrestling, and then give out a number of awards for this year in professional wrestling!  Awards include PPV of the Year, Entrance of the Year, Surprise of the Year, Match of the Year, and Wrestler of the Year, and much, much more.  Who ran away with the awards this year?  Were there any big surprises in this year’s awards?  Only one way to find out!

  5. Original Stampede Wrestling – “Return of the Ring” Fundraiser

This summer, Bored Wrestling Fan had the opportunity to discuss the return of a Calgary, and international, professional wrestling staple, Stampede Wrestling. On a stormy August afternoon, Doc Knight and Bruce Hart spent time with ThinkSoJoE and G explaining the vision and mission of the newly dubbed, “Original Stampede Wrestling” (OSW). This is the real deal, folks. Accept no imitations.

The OSW has started up a fundraising project via Indiegogo.com, called “Return of the Ring.” Over the course of the next 116 days, the goal is to raise $150,000 in order to setup of facility for training and business operations and to build two new rings for training and shows.

But possibly even more amazing, is the goal to repair and refurbish THE RING. Not just any ring, this is the same ring that has been a part of Stampede Wrestling since the beginning. It has seen and spent time with countless wrestling talents from the days of the past to some of the stars of today. The “Ring of Dreams” is associated among those who trained with the legendary Stu Hart and his family in the world famous “Dungeon,” and possibly may continue to do so with your support.

You touch it and feel its power, as the thunder, the electricity, the pounding of its heart and soul… SCREAMING as it rushes in to you… “I will NOT let it end here, I will NOT die out here, I have stood the test of time, so Test me with yours! I will show you what I stand for”

The following video comes directly from the Indiegogo fundraising webpage.

For even more information on the OSW Return of the Ring, including corporate sponsorship packages that include advertising incentives through out televised and new media content, as well as wrestling training packages, event tickets and more for individual sponsorships, check out the official fundraising page here.

The Fundraiser runs now through Wednesday, March 06 at 11:59PM PT.

  6. Smackdown 11/06/12

Smackdown on Tuesday? Hmm… WWE are you sure you want to do this? You want to go up against the US Presidential Election? You want to go up against the drop day release of Halo 4, one of the most anticipated video games of 2012? Will I even finish this review on Tuesday? All questions that even I don’t know the answer to. I’m not that inclined to review this after a 3 hour RAW, a show I might have not even finished watching at this point, let alone had enough time to mentally recover from to watch yet another 2 hours of professional wrestling. Let’s get this over with and hop to it, shall we?

Nah, that totally happened. It’s well documented.

  10. BWF Interview: Bruce Hart & Doc Knight of Stampede Wrestling

    Original Stampede Wrestling logo
Recently, the legendary Bruce Hart and the CEO/VP of Stampede Wrestling, Doc Knight, took time out of their busy schedule to speak with ThinkSoJoE and G of BoredWrestlingFan about the relaunch of the Original Stampede Wrestling.  In the one hour interview, Bruce and Doc talk about the various promotions going around trying to use the Stampede name.  Bruce tells us about working behind the scenes at the original Stampede, the innovations pioneered by the organization that were “borrowed” by others, how the lack of “grass roots” territories is effecting the wrestling business, the overabundance of gimmick matches, wrestlers who can’t work as Champions, how completely scripted matches effect the audience, and the lengths wrestlers would go through back in the day to maintain the mystique of professional wrestling as opposed to the near complete lack of mystique being maintained in public by today’s wrestlers.  G asks about the late, great Ed Whalen, the original voice of Stampede Wrestling.  Bruce and Doc talk about wanting the new Stampede to be a viable alternative to the WWE.  Bruce discusses mistakes that are being made by promoters today, which leads to a mini-shoot on Brutus Beefcake.  The duo talk about the desire to make sure their talent is properly trained, wanting to grow a new generation of talent, instead of “one dimensional stiffs,” having a reason or purpose for everything done in the ring, and the need for things to be done safely.  Bruce ponders the absurdity of weapons randomly lying around under the ring.  All this, and much more! Click below for the full interview.
