1. I’m actually awake this evening as I sit down to write the RAW review.  I fell asleep watching Treehouse of Horror XXIV after I got home from Battleground (which I had great seats for, very good view of everything, including the blank video wall after the power partially went out.  FWIW, The Wyatt Family entrance is awesome in person!), then I wound up taking a nap before RAW started.  In fact, as soon as I woke up from the nap and turned the TV on, the “Then Now Forever” signature was just starting.  So, all that said, hopefully I’ll be able to get through this in a reasonable amount of time without having to take another nap halfway through.  Let’s go!

I watch RAW.  I write about RAW.  You all complain and tell me the SmackDown review is better.  I sat through Battleground last night and paid more for my ticket than you paid for the PPV.  Cut me some slack.  Jerks.

  3. See you in two weeks, Bo!

Joe returns from exile as he leads JT, G, and Jorge into Battle – Battleground, that is.  We do the usual RAW and SmackDown stuff, then we talk news.  We discuss the merits of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, and the stars that got us into professional wrestling.  Our Battleground predictions are given, with surprising results.  Jorge describes his predicted Divas Championship match experience in graphic detail.

In news, who’s got $295 to pay for an Undertaker figure?  Todd McFarlane hopes you do.  Ryback wants Undertaker at WrestleMania.  What has Maven been up to?  Does anybody besides MavenFan care?  Where is Mark Henry?  What’s to become of Wade Barrett?  And will Jorge be replacing Drew McIntyre in 3MB?  Find out, this week on BoredWrestlingFan Radio!

  4. Once again we find ourselves at the door of another WWE PPV, like a girl scout hoping the person answering will buy some cookies, only to have the door open and said cookies snatched from our hands by some god damned cookie stealing motherfucker. That’s right, the WWE wants you $55 and they for some reason think you’re a stalwart little trooper. But let’s face it folks, your the god damned cookie thief, aren’t you? Admit it. Why should you pay for this? What have they done over the last three weeks to entice you? The Rhodes getting fired thing might be all you can come up with. Maybe tonight’s Smackdown will change that… but let’s face it. THERE WILL BE NO COOKIES. ONLY PAIN. Join me, shall you?

  6. WWE Triple H: Thy Kingdom Come – Trailer

You know what?  It has been a whole few months since I’ve had the chance to watch and learn about a WWE superstar that I have grown up with.  So then I hear about this new Triple H DVD coming out and I’m all like “Sweet!  The Game gets another DVD but this one’s going to be more comprehensive”.  After watching some great WWE Studios Documentaries on the likes of Bret Hart, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, and CM Punk I had high hopes.  Boy was I wrong.

So this DVD starts like all of them usually do: Yep, you guessed it, Baby Trips.  I’m not going to spoil everything but what I’ll say is they don’t spend as much time as they do on the young lives of wrestlers like CM Punk and Mick Foley.  They dive very fast into Triple H’s training and him joining WCW.  He does make it sound like he knew WCW was going under even in the early days.

Triple H was always a WWE guy and if you didn’t know it beforehand you know now since that’s pretty much what this DVD is about.  We get to learn about how he got his start in the E but the surprising turn is when they concentrate a good amount of time on his female counterpart, Chyna.  I was pleasantly surprised about the stories of how Trips and Shawn Michaels found her and how well she fit and helped push Degeneration-X even further.

We move on and learn about some of his feuds with the likes of Mick Foley, The Nation of Domination, and The Rock.  I’m going to summarize the rest of the story part of the DVD right now:  I did not marry the Owner’s daughter to push my career and I hurt myself really bad because I give so much to the fans.  It felt like an eternity watching everyone discuss his relationship with his now wife, Stephanie.  I enjoyed learning more about his injury with his torn quad and the therapy he endured to get back to doing what he loved.

This is the part where I review the biography portion of this DVD.  Triple H just isn’t that interesting, sorry to disappoint.  His WWE career is even pretty boring.  The only set back he had was the MSG Incident with the rest of the Kliq and then it was smooth sailing a year after.  How about Mick Foley scratching and crawling to get to the WWE or CM Punk working the indies and never being allowed to be the main event in WWE or even Bret Hart’s struggles with Stampede Wrestling and then the horrors of joining WCW.  I give this part a 3 out of 5 stars.

    THE MATCHES

This is where this DVD shines.  We get some amazing matches with some great opponents.  My review is 5 out of 5 stars for this because I couldn’t stop watching these matches and that’s why this review took so long.  I’m going to list all of the matches because they are worth the price of the Blu-Ray alone:

    EXTRAS

Some of these are awesome and should have been included in the actual biography like the stories about Sherri Martel, Evolution’s fifth member, and stealing DDP’s Diamond Cutter.  Some are just dumb like him discussing his motivation in high school and The Rock’s stories about him.  One story that almost moved me to tears was the story behind Shawn Michaels’ comeback and wish they discussed it in more detail.

    OVERALL

The story is okay but the matches are what makes this DVD special.  Triple H is no Steve Austin, Undertaker, or Shawn Michaels so they played up how great he was by showing matches he shared with the above competitors.  When it’s all said and done: 4 out of 5 stars.  Let the arguing begin.

  7. I try my best not to get too caught up in anything while I’m getting set up for the RAW review, but occasionally, there are exceptions.  This evening, for example, I’m having to tear myself away from the rough draft of an excellent book a friend of mine is working on.  But I tear myself away for you, dear reader.  Yet you’ll still say that the SmackDown review is better.  Screw you, people.  Just kidding, you guys are still awesome.

I watch the show and write stuff.  What more do you want?

  8. Way to make it obvious in the GIF, G.

I have no idea what happened today.  I wasn’t there.  Jorge took my place.  Brian Muller was there.  G was there.  JT was there.  And I’m pretty sure that the reason why I wasn’t there has something to with RWR’s Alice.  I hear she was on the show today.  The joke’s on her.  I’m sending a soldier from BWF to RWR tomorrow night.  You wanna find out what happened on today’s show?  I guess you’re just going to have to click the link below.  I know I will be after The Simpsons.
