Check it! It’s the last power poll of the year that was 2010.

Earlier in the year, ThinkSoJoE invited me to participate in the Power Poll project initiated by Jason Mann. So I did just that, representing the seemingly defunct Project Wonderboy website. For a while all went well. Jason eventually handed the reigns of the project to Don Mega, who has done a darn good job staying on top of all the correspondence necessary to run something like this. A little while ago, the Project Wonderboy site seems to have died along with it’s parent site, the Morphine Nation. Since I do vote in the power poll, I figured I’d knock one of these off for JoE since he’s been a busy dude lately.

By the way, a few of us old school Project Wonderboy folks have a surprise coming shortly that involves some of the good folks here at the mighty Bored Wrestling Fan website. I’ll let’cha know soon enough…

Until then, let’s hop to the Power Poll: the Animated Gif Edition. I’ll add some notes in the italicized captions, I suppose…

1. CM Punk

Logo
He left the interview desk a couple of Mondays back, only to return last RAW and deliver an epic run down of Superman himself… then later in the show was revealed to be the new leader of Nexus. Deserves the top spot without question.

2. The Miz

Logo
If your name isn’t CM Punk, but you were otherwise the best heel on RAW last Monday, please stand up. Yes, the Miz’s reign of awesomeness continues… and his feud with Morrison storyline is looking good. Unlike Morrison, the Miz’s microphone work sounds natural.

3. John Morrison

Logo
But who cares about talkers, when you can do this? In all fairness, Morrison deserves credit for this week’s bout with Riley. His promos with the Miz were convincing enough to establish next RAW’s title match. A shame the two are not having this match at the Royal Rumble.

4. John Cena

Logo
It’s hard to deny Cena. Love him or hate him, he comes every week and brings his A-Game regardless of how much the writers twist him into a Saturday Morning Cartoon Character. This week, he was pivotal with the Punk story… and he did what he does best: get a reaction out of the crowd.

5. Randy Orton

Logo
Orton makes number 5, and certainly had a good turn out on RAW. I’m not sure if he deserves this rank though, but it’s a democratic project. Orton seems to be kind of more treading water on the side of the stories, likely due to nagging injuries and no time off.

6. Edge

Logo
Edge has essentially dominated the tweener/face role on Smackdown lately, and his torment of Kane appears to be over.

7. Sheamus

Logo
Naturally as King, is in a position of power. While we all await the often teased return of HHH, Sheamus has been booked strong. As a result, he may not have the same light on him on recently, he isn’t going anywhere fella…

8. Rey Mysterio

Logo
A top ten guy, as usual. I don’t know if he is at the forefront with the Del Rio feuding, but he has come every night with a solid work rate… and accordingly the next grappler is…

9. Alberto Del Rio

Logo
Del Rio is gold. Just like Mysterio, they are not ranking as high as I feel they should. Both men have been fantastic together, and in Del Rio’s case, he’s brought a new life to what charisma means on Smackdown.

10. Daniel Bryan

Logo
Even as the WWE gives him crap to work with for storylines, Bryan defies the odds. I don’t think his match on RAW (which began during commercials, and was like 2 minutes) warranted him to rank this week. It certainly wasn’t a result of the Bella Twin garbage either. I suspect Bryan makes it on due to protest votes. Protest votes that I fully endorse.

  1. What in the name of grilled cheesus is going on in the Edge gif?

I understand AJ Styles dropping from the list, but his "Shut up, hooker!" gif is grand.

  2. I am not really too sure what Edge is doing either. This one just caught my eye, so I had to use it.

I'm sure AJ's custom animated gif will find another use at some point. Ha ha…
