  1. Late Edition- Impact Review. Pintnoir

    Well here I am after a wonderful week of work. But even with all that I’ve found time for Impact Wrestling. We start the show with a replay of how Roode has held onto his title for months. And culminating in his beat down of Steve Borden. Roode opens the show.

    He gloats how Sting on twitter has apparently quit wrestling. Roode praises himself for doing something that Harley Race, Vader, and Ric Flair failed to do. This time we don’t have an interruption from someone in the back.

    Later we cut to Crimson and Morgan arguing over AAO, and Morgan being speared by Crimson. From what the convo details we could see a Crimson heel turn. Both agree to get on the ball and win tonight.

    Tag Team Title rematch: Samoa Joe/Magnus vs Matt Morgan/Crimson

    We get another good match where Magnus takes the brunt of the attacks. Then tags in Joe to clean house when needed. Toward the end of the match Morgan is hot tagged and goes through both Joe and Magnus setting up for the pin. Joe makes the save. Later on as Morgan goes for the Carbon Footprint on Joe, Crimson from the other end clotheslines Morgan when Joe ducks. A Joe Magnus setup elbow drop, helps them retain. After the match Crimson fumes at Morgan.

    Brandon Jacobs makes his return (same day if you were at the tapings) as he walks down the ramp Mike Tenay makes an announcement of last week being shown on espn and other such networks? I’m confused. How? Anyway, Brandon Jacobs calls out Bully Ray or as he calls him “Buwwy Ray” Bully Ray comes down and stops midway at the ramp. The two banter back and forth, Ray makes light of Jacobs accomplishments while he pumps up his own. Finally Jacobs has had enough and chases Bully Ray to the back. Backstage Jacobs is approached by Hardy and Storm who tell him something in his ear.

    X Division match: Zema Ion vs Alex Shelley

    We have good back and forth from these two. Zema holds his own against Shelley. During the match Austin Aries comes to the ring with popcorn and wine to evaluate the match. Shelley is making a comeback and attempting sliced bread #2 when Ion pushes him into the ref with that distraction he sprays Shelley in the face with hairspray, leading to a jawbuster and then a running knee pin. Austin Aries looks on in disgust.

    We have a replay of the Bischoff story. The segment seems strangely cut off when Hogan confronts Garett to give him some advice. Oh and Madison makes an appearance to explain her winning the knockout over the top challenge, and how she is just giving Gail a better opponent. Because you know Sarita wasn’t available.

    ODB w/ EY vs Gail: We have the new Cody Deaner appear with his love ODB, to a very good reaction from the Impact crowd. Gail follows with her typical self. We get a good match with of course the occasional interference from Eric. Soon Madison comes down which distracts  Gail. This of course leads to an ODB comeback which is ended when Gail reverses out of the BaBam and turns it into Eat Defeat. Afterwards Madison runs into the ring to raise Kim’s hand. Gail is furious shouting at Madison leaving her in the ring.

    We have a replay and interview with Jesse Sorenson and his mom detailing his accident. Mike Tenay assures us he’s at home now. AJ does a pretape about how he’s done with Daniels and Kazarian. His mind is on the TNA world title.

    This sets up AJ Styles vs Robbie E. For the television title.

    A decent match with the obligatory interference from Rob Terry. Soon Daniels with Kaz comes to the ring. Kaz who looks extremly P”Oed walks pasts a bewildered Daniels and proceeds attack AJ from the apron. Causing a DQ. Before walking out glaring at Daniels.

    Main Event: No Disqualification Tag Match Storm/Hardy w/ Brandon Jacobs vs Angle/Bully Ray

    A good match where Jacobs gets his hands on Ray. The inclusion of Angle from last weeks attack seem to help start a feud. Since Hardy didn’t really gets his hands on Angle. A table is introduced by Ray and Angle but is turned against them when Jacobs gets into the ring and chokeslams Ray through allowing Storm to get the pin.

    Sting comes out to announce his retirement. But Roode can’t help but to interrupt. This seemingly sets off Sting who starts poring on black makeup getting into his joker character. Roode goes for another low blow but is blocked but Sting kicks back dropping Roode. Sting promises to put on the boots to kick Roode’s butt. He can’t decide on a closing remark, but leaves with Ta Ta for now.

     

  2. BWF’s Half-Time Show

    Here we are again, that one day of the year where that game called Gridiron or American Football as it’s sometimes known, is having it’s biggest day (I refuse to mention the particular name of said event, as I’m going to do the whole show without mentioning it. But, if you don’t know what it is, watch ESPN, they’ll be talking about it for the next week), and at BWF, we choose to celebrate by bringing you our own half-time show. Who would you rather see, us or Madonna? I thought so..

  3. Smackdown 10/21/11

    The WWE has been plowing through their storylines since the summer… and not much will change tonight. As opposed to marketing one of the biggest gimmick matches in the traditions of Mexico’s wrestling scene, the WWE forgot to mention on RAW that they are having a mask vs mask match on Smackdown. At least they had the common sense to announce it on their website for us so-called 10%’s, the same people who knew about it before they even posted it… Let’s get to it, shall we?

    Oh yeah, in case you forgot (you probably did), there’s actually a PPV on Sunday. So this is the go-home show. They couldn’t wait 3 days for the mask vs mask match… with no build… gawd…

  4. The War On.. If I Can Be Serious For A Minute

    Cue the opening

    I thought I’d get in before anyone else, and be serious.. if just for a moment. For those who missed, an ESPN program, entitled E:60, documented the life of Scott Hall, and his struggles with alcohol and drugs in his life. I’m sure if you’re a real wrestling fan (even old school guys like me), know about the troubles Scott Hall has had throughout. The following video linked below, is the E:60 presentation. E:60, is a ESPN documentary program, leaving no stone unturned. It’s almost like ESPN’s version of the History Channel so to speak, and their expose on Hall is just one of many stories that have been investigated well, and one of many that is of a more serious nature.

  5. The Great Defense of Snooki

    Yeah, that’s right. While everybody else is claiming the end of the wrestling world as we know it, I’m going to point out why it may not be.  While everybody is calling for the Apocalypse, it just may not be.

    I must begin this with a confession. I like Jersey Shore. [pausing for the jokes about losing my man card] It is an entertaining show. Yeah, make all your jokes, shout your snide remarks and giggle endlessly at my expense. But I’m not alone. Jersey Shore’s rating this past week was 4.7. Jersey Shore was the highest-rated show on Cable. Yes, that is better than WWE’s both hours of Raw. We won’t be seeing that during the “Did You Know…” graphic this week. Right now, Jersey Shore is one of the hottest topics you will find on television. If it was more sought after, it would be winning on Adonis DNA and tiger blood.

    And no figure on Jersey Shore is more iconic than Snooki. Towering over none at 4’9″, she is a bubbly, charismatic, polarizing figure. You wanna get a group of people going? Bring up the subject of Snooki, and ask people what they think of her. Regardless of what this says about our society, Snooki is one of the hottest commodities on television today.

    Yes, the wrestling world has had plenty of celebrity appearances go bad: RoboCop, the cast of Jackass, Pacman Jones. But there have been some really successful ones: The War to Settle the Score, Lawrence Taylor-Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Tyson & that encounter with Stone Cold (How many times did we see that on ESPN?). Wrestlemania was built around the appearance of Mr. T, who was one of the hottest commodities of his time.

    So here is an opportunity to get an actual star from Jersey Shore (and not some joke who hasn’t lasted either season and is now doing TNA) and capitalize on her star power. This CAN work. They will most likely have a broader audience than usual, because there will be some people who will tune in to see Snooki. As much of an indictment that is on our culture, it’ll create some buzz. When the people tune in, the key is to get them a reason to watch again.

    WWE, this part is for you. You might have people who have never tuned in before. You need to make sure you give an exciting product that makes people tune in again. Also, your biggest show of the year is a matter of weeks away. Make sure you find a way to pimp out Wrestlemania like it’s never been pimped before. Also, I know that you’ve always been a sucker for your “Sportscenter” moment. Make sure you parlay this into an effort to sell the biggest show of the year.

    With this in the right hands, this just might work.

    Another Thursday, and a whole lot more suffering for the G. See last week Kurt Angle trespassed a whole bunch, which was a wee bit of an overkill… expect more Karen Angle-Jarrett tonight! Also, Abyss was MURDERED literally by Crimson (the Amazing Red’s little brother) via “Janice” (Abyss’ nail-laced two by four). Crimson promised “They” are coming, even though “They” already came in the form of Immortal. Oww… my brain already hurts, and the show hasn’t even started yet…

  8. The War On Everything part One

    Welcome to the War for another week ..

    Before I begin this week, it seems that other columns on this site are getting rave reviews. Drow wrote a piece on the Casual vs Core wrestling fan, and JT’s Randomness always gets the people talking. Yet, nobody talks about this little piece unless I mention Brett Favre. Now I have, you watch them start talking about the new Viking. Speaking of Vikings, when’s Erik getting a start, or won’t Susan Sarandon let him?

    Speaking of Brett, I am now turned off of SportsCenter’s NFL coverage because of everyone’s man-crush for #4. Hey ESPN, he isn’t that good. Green Bay won’t retire his number because he retires, and then magically comes back every year. He doesn’t do training camp, he doesn’t do any training, and yet everyone comes out and says ‘Oh, he’ll save the Minnesota Vikings, they’re now a superbowl team’.

    First off, I am a better QB than Tavaris Jackson. Secondly, how does poor Sage Rosenfels feel now? He was traded from Houston, after being back-up to Matt Schaub, to Minnesota, in hopes of a starting spot, and yet, it looks like there’d be more of a chance he’d get a starting spot at the Texans, rather than where he is now, due to the Vikings’ obsession with someone whose five years away from adult diapers. Hagar the Horrible has resorted to alcohol, because he is angry, due toVikings signing Favre.

    Not even Asterix can help us against Brett Favre. Or Lorne Greene.

    You wanna know what Hulk Hogan’s doing these days? He’s supporting a fellow has been as this picture shows.

    Although we all know why Brett went to Minnesota, don’t we?

    Finally, I’ll tell you how good Favre is. Two years ago, I won a Fantasy NFL league at Yahoo! I drafted Favre after week 8, when I was 2-6. I won the next nine games, but I had to replace Favre, with Kurt Warner, due to Brett being rubbish. Warner led me through the playoffs, and the championship, whilst Mr. 38 year old at the time, sat on the bench.

    This is the end of Part One, I must calm down. Favre-rage is flowing in my veins.

    Welcome to the war for another week.

    Rather than begin with the usual, I have to start with the NFL. It seems that everyone can come back from retirement/jail. Michael Vick signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, after spending 21 months on the inside for dog fighting. Brett Favre has come back from retirement for the second time, this time joining the Minnesota Vikings on a two-year deal, making the off-season trade for Sage Rosenfels pretty much useless. Donovan McNabb suggested that Plaxico Burress ‘wouldn’t hurt’ in an Eagles uniform. Here’s the quote from McNabb at ESPN.com

    “I don’t think he would hurt,” McNabb said. “We have some great guys here at our receiver position. But, whatever you can do to enhance the team, you would look into it.”

    According to what I’m reading, the Eagles suddenly want to become the new Cincinnati Bengals of the league. However, it will be interesting as to how the Eagles accommodate Vick into their offence. Whether, it’s as a back-up QB, or as part of some sort of Wildcat offence, if Vick is anything like he was back in the days under centre for my Atlanta Falcons, then Philly fans will have a good season to look forward to. Either that, if Vick is a flop, then play the Baha Men during each game.

    Speaking of returning Quarterbacks, as I mentioned earlier, Brett Favre has return to the NFL, with the Minnesota Vikings, after not being able to play for them last year, due to the Packers trade stipulations. It seems that last year’s season with the New York Jets was just filler. With Favre, Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson all capable of playing in the QB slot, who gets the job? The easy pick is Favre, but how much would that deflate the confidence of the other two? Here it is, pre-season and you have two QB’s vying for one starting job, when low and behold, here comes the supposed savior of the franchise. The man who’s going to bring them success. Surely that doesn’t to the confidence of the others any good? It wouldn’t matter if some players on the team want him there, the Vikings are going to be in turmoil the whole year, regardless of how successful they are on the field.

    In wrestling news, TNA and Spike TV have agreed to a new three-year extension to their deal. This is great news for TNA President Dixie Carter and the rest of their crew, as they will have a permanent option for iMPACT. Along with their weekly show, TNA will also provide a series of one-hour specials featuring the biggest personalities, plus some of the greatest and most awe-inspiring matches in the history of the company. I thought they had a show for that? It was called TNA Epics.

    TNA Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle was arrested this past week for stalking TNA KnockOut, and girlfriend of Angle, Trenesh Biggers aka Rhaka Khan outside a Starbucks. Police also charged Angle with harassment, possession of the Human Growth Hormone Hygetropin, and a syringe which he used to insert the substance. Angle claims he has a doctor’s prescription for the HGH. Also, adding to all this, he was driving with a suspended license, from a previous drink-driving charge.

    My question is, why wasn’t Kurt Angle punished for any of this? Even worse, he was rewarded, when he retained the Championship against Sting and Matt Morgan at the recent PPV entitled ‘Hard Justice‘. TNA need to strip him of the belt, and suspend him indefinitely until this whole thing gets put to bed. How flattering does it sound, to hear that your company’s World Champion, has been arrested and charged with what I mentioned previously? Kurt Angle is not a God-like figure, even though TNA thinks he is.

    At this time, the preliminary hearing against Angle was set for Tuesday, although no details have been released.

    Although Angle’s title win at Hard Justice wasn’t the only title defended at the event, the big news coming out of it, is that the Main Event Mafia, now hold the Tag Team, X-Division, Legends and World Championship. This is very significant in terms of power and control as it regards to the locker room, and with an announcement from ‘the Pheonomenal’ AJ Styles scheduled for this week’s iMPACT. Things could finally be turning in the right direction, that is, unless the Angle mess doesn’t get cleaned up quickly, but most importantly, the right way.

    If the rumours are correct, and that AJ’s announcement this week will be about his retirement, then it would be a massive blow to TNA. AJ is a talent inside the ring, and one of the few originals remaining. Plus with Sting’s expected retirement at the Bound For Glory PPV later this year. TNA could lose to of its biggest names within three months of each other.

    In WWE news now, and the annual SummerSlam PPV is this Sunday night, or Monday morning for the likes of me living in the Land Down Under. The double main event sees WWE Champion Randy orton take on John Cena, and a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the World Heavyweight Championship, between the Champion Jeff Hardy, and the challenger, CM Punk. Although, that isnt the news exciting the young fans around the world. The fifteenth re-incarnation of D-Generation X will appear, as Triple H and Shawn Michaels return together again, to take on Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes. I must admit, I was a massive fan of DX, this DX, and this DX. Not the current form. I know it’s never going to happen, but how big of a boost would it be for Legacy to get the victory in this one?
