  2. Survivor Series quick results – 11/23/08

I should’ve done this when I re-watched the show, but since I didn’t, here’s the quick results of WWE Survivor Series 2008.

Team HBK defeated Team JBL.  Your sole survivors:  HBK, Rey Mysterio, & The Great Khali.  I’ve always hated when there’s more than one person left on the winning team, and they call them “Sole Suvivors.”  That’s like naming a band “The Lone Rangers.”  Isn’t that right, cast of Airheads?

Team RAW Divas defeated Team SmackDown Divas.  Your sole survivor:  Beth Phoenix.  Maryse put on a pretty strong showing in this one.

The Undertaker defeated The Big Show in a casket match.  In a unique finish, Show destroyed the first casket, but when a second casket was brought out, he stood it up on it’s side.  The Undertaker whipped Show into it, sending it crashing to the ground with Show inside, the lid closing behind him.

Team Orton defeated Team Batista.  Your sole survivors: Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.  Orton blind tagged Rhodes when Batista had him up for a Batista Bomb.  The Legend Killer dropped the unsuspecting Batista with an RKO for the victory.

Edge defeated Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov in a triple threat match to win the WWE Championship.  Yes, you read that right, Edge won the WWE Championship.  Storyline wise, Jeff Hardy was assaulted in his hotel and rendered unable to compete in the match.  The match started off as a singles match between Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov.  After a hard fought fight, Triple H dropped Kozlov with a Pedigree, though he was too out of it to make the cover.  Vickie Guerrero game out on the stage and announced that it’s going to be a triple threat after all, because “he’s here!”  “He” turned out to be Edge, who came out and speared Triple H.  Before he could make the cover though, Jeff Hardy came out and attacked him.  Hardy swung with a chair, missing Edge and connecting with The Game, followed by a shot for the Moscow Mauler.  When he went to swing for Edge, he ate a spear instead.  Edge covered Triple H for the three and won the WWE Championship!

John Cena def. Chris Jericho to win the World Heavyweight Championship.  After the match, Cena celebrated with his family in the crowd before walking up the ramp triumphant as the new World Heavyweight Championship.

Looks like we’ve got a good week of WWE programming in store for us this week!

  3. ECW on SciFi

Yawn.  This show sucked.  MC somethingorother came out with Alicia Fox and beat some jobber.  This new guy is an Alex Wright knockoff.

Jack Swagger beat Tommy Dreamer in an amateur challenge via DQ.  Tommy said “oops, you win,” and on next week’s show it’s going to be Dreamer and Swagger again, this time in an Extreme Rules match.

And the trio of Mark Henry, William Regal, and Cody Rhodes defeated Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, and Finlay.  Exciting television there, folks.

  4. Cyber Sunday Thoughts

    By JT

Hey everybody.  Just wanted to chime in and give my two cents on Cyber Sunday.  Taking a look at the card here’s how it looks:

    1. WWE Championship (WWE Universe chooses challenger) choices are:

    • a. Jeff Hardy
    • b. Kozlov
    • c. Both

What I think should happen- I would like to see HHH take on both of them.  Then during the match HHH gets knocked out of the ring, Kozlov does his headbutt thingy on Jeff Hardy, pins him and wins the WWE title.

What probably will happen- Jeff hardy gets 90% of the vote and faces HHH one-on-one, with HHH coming out on top.

    2. Undertaker vs. Big Show (WWE Universe chooses type of match) choices are:

    • a. Knockout Match
      b. I Quit Match
      c. Last Man Standing Match

What I think should happen- I don’t have much to say about this match so I’m going with Last man standing.

What will probably happen- Last man standing, Taker gets his win back.

    3. WWE Diva Halloween Costume Contest– I don’t care, nuff said.

    4. Pick the Tag Team Match choices are:

    • a. World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase vs. CM Punk & Kofi Kingston
    • b. John Morrison & The Miz vs. Cryme Tyme
    • c. Jamie Noble & Mickie James vs. William Regal & Layla

What I think should happen- First, let me say what won’t happen.  The mixed tag match.  If it gets more than 10% of the vote I’ll be surprised.  Now back on the subject, I think that the tag title match will happen.

What probably will happen- Tag title match, Punk and Kingston win.

    5. Cyber Sunday Preview Match (United States Championship Match) the choices are:

    • R-Truth
    • MVP
    • Festus

Wow good to see Shelton get on the card (even if it’s a preview match on wwe.com) and no doubt that he’s gonna be facing and losing the belt to R-Truth. (that’s both what I think and probably will happen)

    6. ECW Championship Match (WWE Universe chooses Matt Hardy’s opponent) Choices are:

    • a. Mark Henry
    • b. Evan Bourne
    • c. Finlay

What I think will happen- If anyone has seen Evan Bourne, then there should be no doubt that he should be facing Matt Hardy.

What probably will happen- Evan Bourne faces Matt.  The guy is awesome and even proved it last Tuesday on ECW so that will turn the vote in his direction.

    7. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio (WWE Universe chooses type of match) choices are:

    • Falls Count Anywhere Match
      No Holds Barred Match
      Best 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

What I think should happen- Ugh, this is one feud I don’t care about.  I am not a fan of Rey Mysterio’s (never have) so anything involving him I just don’t give a s#@*.  I gonna go with No Hols Barred.

What will probably will happen- Falls Count Anywhere. Kane kills Rey and takes his mask.

8.Intercontinental Championship Match (WWE Universe chooses Santino Marella’s opponent) Choices are:

    • a. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper
      b. Goldust
      c. Honky Tonk Man

What I think will happen- Goldust, um no.  Honky Tonk Man maybe. Granted I know that his whole gimmick is revolved the Honky Tonk Man and the Honk-A-Meter,  but I just don’t see it happening when the other choice is Rowdy Roddy Piper.  He should clearly win this vote.
What probably will happen- Charlie Haas dressed as the Honky Tonk Man does the job to Santino.

9.World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. zzzz, I mean Batista (WWE Universe chooses referee) choices are:
    • a. Randy Orton
      b. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
      c. Shawn Michaels

Man even Batista puts me to sleep even typing his name.

What I think will happen- Randy Orton being a choice is a joke.  If he gets more than 5% of the votes I will know this whole thing is rigged.  This is going to be very close between HBK and Stone Cold.  Since Austin is supposed to be there and I don’t see having him there and not using him so he wins.

What probably will happen- Austin gets 50%, HBK 49%, Orton 1%.  Austin during the match gets pissed off at both Jericho and Batista, stuns them counts them both down but just before 3 Jericho gets his arm on Batista and retains.

Well those are my thoughts on Cyber Sunday, hope you didn’t too bored and go away.  If you didn’t thanks for reading and hop to see you soon.

  5. ECW in RealTime – 10/7/08

Well folks, this may be the only real-time you get out of me this week.  That doesn’t mean that there’s not going to be SmackDown coverage on Friday night, it just means that it’s not going to be live, as my hometown Buffalo Sabres open their season.  Anywho, tonight, it’s going to be CM Punk and Kofi Kingston returning to ECW to team with Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz to take on Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, The Miz, and John Morrison.

ECW on SciFi is on the air!

Finlay & Tommy Dreamer def. Mike Knox & Jack Swagger when Finlay pinned Knox.

Mark Henry def. Jamie Noble via pinfall.

Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, The Miz & John Morrison def.  CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne & Ricky Ortiz when Morrison pinned Punk.

It’s the 800th episode of Monday Night RAW!  Confirmed for tonight’s show, Miz and Morrison take on Cryme Tyme, Evan Bourne takes on Kane, and Beth Phoenix takes on Kelly Kelly.

Sort of detailed results (I’m not up for full play by play at the moment); after the jump! (more…)

  7. Unforgiven thoughts…

Well, I’m not going to bore you with a results page (but if you must know, Matt Hardy, Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Michelle McCool, and in a surprising twist, Chris Jericho were your winners), I just wanted to get a few things off my chest about WWE Unforgiven 2008.

First of all, congratulations to Matt Hardy – it may be the ECW Championship, but you’ve finally won the big one.  Unfortunately, your brother was just one second away from upstaging you and winning the World Heavyweight Championship, but instead of lunging over to break up Triple H’s pin attempt, he ran over into his own pin attempt on Shelton Benjamin.

Speaking of which, Jeff Hardy bugged the hell out of me last night (and later on in the night, so did Kane).  Jeff was the current WWE Champion at one point, and a couple of times while he was the current champion, he went for a pinfall.  Tell me, what good would it have done for Jeff Hardy, while being the current champion in the match, to pin somebody?  He’s already achieved the only thing you get when you pin somebody, so what is the point of pinning somebody else since a pin doesn’t really benefit you.  Kane, as current World Heavyweight Champion, made a pin attempt on Batista in RAW’s Scramble Match.  It makes no sense to me.

Speaking of the RAW match, it really bothers me that CM Punk, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, was written out of the match.  If they really wanted Jericho to win, they could have had Kane attack Mysterio backstage, have Jericho replace Mysterio and have Orton come out to the ring to cost Punk the World Championship.  I think it’s complete BS that Punk wasn’t even in the match that he lost the title in.

The beating HBK gave Jericho last night was not as bad as they’re going to make it out to be, though Jericho did come out of the match in pretty rough shape.  You could see how badly he was beaten up as he made his way to the ring for the Championship Scramble.  That match had a pretty good finish, with Jericho stealing the victory without getting in a single move throughout the time he was in the match.

What I’m going to take away from Unforgiven is the fact that The Brian Kendrick is eventually going to win the WWE Championship if he stays clean and doesn’t do anything stupid.  That said, the same statement will apply to Jeff Hardy, albeit much sooner than it will apply to Kendrick.

The Big Show heel turn was piss poor.  Normally the guy arguing with whoever the Undertaker is feuding with will leave before the druids come out.  Show stood there and laughed at Vickie.  Sure, he pretended to be mad at her, but you could tell that he was turning heel the moment the camera got a shot of Show and Guerrero in the ring together.

You guys all know that I’m normally against name changes – especially when the guy has his old name on his tights – but I think it’s a good thing they changed Afa Jr.’s name to Manu.  WWE doesn’t like to use “Junior” at the end of names (Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and most recently and most baffling, Ted DiBiase).  People remember Afa, so calling this kid Afa isn’t going to make a lot of sense (again, see DiBiase, Ted).  Calling him Manu and telling everybody that he’s Afa’s son is a good move.

I’m really glad that I probably won’t ever have to see that Chris Jericho/Shawn Michaels video package again.  Hopefully, Shawn’s promo at Unforgiven stating that for Jericho, the worst is still yet to come doesn’t mean that he’s going to find himself in the World Title hunt.

That’s it for me, I’ll see you guys in the morning with a RAW review!

  8. WWE Unforgiven Predictions

Hello, folks!  I’m not planning on reviewing the PPV in real-time tonight (WorldWrestlingInsanity‘s Aaron Wood will have you covered in that regard),  though I will be trying to watch it.  Since I got all but one match right at Night of Champions a few months back, I thought I’d try my hand at tonight’s Unforgiven PPV.

This review of Monday Night RAW on BoredWrestlingFan.com is dedicated to the memory of reader JT’s cat, Bandit (1995-2008).  Tonight’s episode features a rematch for the World Tag Team Championship, as Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase try to win back their titles from John Cena and Batista.  JBL has a challenge for CM Punk that Punk “can’t win,” and GM Mike Adamle says we’re going to find out what’s in Kane’s bag.
