  2. SmackDown results – 4/24/09

I wasn’t home and missed the first half of SmackDown, so here are the results courtesy of tvfanatic.com:

WWE SmackDown was taped this week from London. In the main event, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase took on Shane McMahon and Batista. Here’s a rundown of events and matches from the event…

    – Edge comes (to the) ring and cuts promo on Sunday’s Backlash. Lots of heat when he mentions Vickie Guerrero. She sucks.

    – Matt Hardy and Kane defeat Jeff Hardy and CM Punk; Solid match. Matt gets the rollup on Jeff for the victory.

    – The Big Show defeats The Undertaker; The Big Show delivers a knockout blow to the back of Undertaker’s head. The referee stops the match because Undertaker can’t continue. But The Undertaker gets up and punches Big Show out of the ring.

    – Maryse defeats Gail Kim, retains the WWE Divas Championship; very boring match.

    – MVP defeats Chavo Guerrero; quick match that was followed by a challenge to MVP by Dolph Ziggler for a match next week.

    – Shane McMahon and Batista defeat Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase; Shane gets the pin but also accidentally knocks Batista off the ropes during the match. Uh-oh.

  3. WWE Superstars Review

Hey everybody!  Tharvey1 here with the WWE Superstars Review for the Thursday April 16, 2009.  Since this is the debut of the new Superstars, lets get this thing started off right.

Match number 1 of the night was Matt Hardy vs. The Undertaker.

The match started off with Taker dominating inside and outside the ring.  As soon as the action got back into the ring, Taker went “Old School,” then sent Matt back outside the ring with a clothesline over the ropes.  After the commercial break, Matt reversed a chokeslam into a neckbreaker, and then got his offense in.  Taker then hit a bigboot as Matt tried to jump off the top rope, thus putting Taker back in control.  The end of the match saw Matt scramble out of the ring and walk back up the ramp for an intentional count-out.  Jeff Hardy does a run out and forces Matt back into the ring and into a chokeslam.

This was a pretty good match.  Not too many spots to screw up, although I’m sure Shelton Benjamin could have found a way to if he were involved.  I give this match a 7 out 10.

Match number 2 of the night was Christian vs. Finlay in the Finals of the Elimination Chase for the ECW Championship

I was in attendance for this match and the main event.  During the ECW taping, Tiffany made this match for Superstars.  The start of the match was slow and saw a lot of restholds.  This is understandable, as both men had participated in the triple threat match with Tommy Dreamer not 45 minutes before hand during ECW.

The middle of the match saw a descent mix of power and tope rope spots.  The finale of the match had Christian hitting the Unprettier (yes I will still call it that, even though WWE wants to call it the Killswitch).  This was a good, short match, especially for both men’s second match of the evening.  Christian is one of the best talents in the WWE, and hopefully he gets his shot eventually.  There’s my cheap plug of the evening for Captain Charisma.

    I give this match a 6.5 out of 10

Match number 3 and “Main Event” of the evening was Shane McMahon vs Cody Rhodes

Before the match, Shane cut a promo with Eve backstage about Randy Orton.  Blah, Blah, Blah.  Whatever…who cares?…time to wrap that angle up soon.

The beginning of the match had Shan’O Mac taking control, and treating Cody like the girl he has been made to be over the last few months.   Cody got a little offense during the middle of the match.  He got outside the ring and went for a chair, reentered the ring, and had the chair confiscated by the referee.  Shane got tossed outside the ring by Cody, grabbed the chair, and promptly struck Cody with the chair.  Cody wins by DQ.

After the match, Shane hits Cody a few times with the chair and sets him up for the Coast to Coast with a trash can from under the ring.  Terrible effort with the Coast to Coast.  Shane’s getting to old for that spot.

    I give this match a 5 out 10.

Pretty good debut for the show.  I can only hope this doesn’t turn into another Velocity or Heat.  I will leave you with a random fact of life as I know it:  RDLee loves Bacon!  Had to give him a return shoutout from his realtime review.

Thanks for reading, and see you next week for another review of WWE Superstars.

  4. W is for Wednesday, Wrestlemania and …

    W for …

Welcome lads, lasses and haemaphs. It’s me once again, on yet another Wednesday, fresh off Real-Time for WrestleMania XXV. For those who didnt catch it, then read the thread, situated just a couple of posts down. For those that did, then let’s continue.

If you remember, my head and my heart gave their predictions for WMXXV. Well the results are in! My head picked a grand total of … 2! Undertaker, and the 25th Diva, Santina Marella. My heart on the other hand, didnt get all 9, but still beat my head. My heart picked 4. Triple H, Chris Jericho, Santina Marella and Matt Hardy. These results leave one question. Is it better to pick with your head, or your heart? When it came to WMXXV? Your heart was the one you should’ve went for.

Onto non-Wrestlemania news. Batista is back.

Onto news that people will care about, Tank Johnson has signed a 1-year deal with the Bengals. The same Tank Johnson who, well I’ll let his Wikipedia page tell you. The link is the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank_Johnson.

With Lockdown less than two weeks away, the only match I care about, is of course the Tag Title match between Team 3D and the one and only, Beer Money Inc. The rest of the card can go to hell. Anything that involves Kurt Angle, I’m trying to ignore him, in an attempt he goes away. It hasnt worked so far, but these things don’t happen overnight.

Finally, in conjuction with vincerussowatcheshisbeardgrow.com, I am starting a competition. It’s based on this commercial for Roses chocolates Commercial. In it, it says that by thanking someone, you give them a box of Roses chocolates. For example, Thank you very much for watering my garden, and you give them chocolates. What this competititon is, well, it’s simple. What’s the most inapproapriate thing you can think of, yet be thanked with Roses chocolates?

Thank you very much for … then you add the rest.

For those who dont understand, I’ll give you a few examples. Thank you very much for … killing my family. Thank you very much for … making me sit through a Kurt Angle match. Now, those examples cant be used, but surely you can come up with better ones than that. The competiton ends soon, so get a-creating.

Thats all for this Wednesday, I have been the one they call ‘Legend Killer’, asking you,  Would you like some knives?

    or

    Maybe you’d like these knives?

  5. WWE RAW Review – 4/6/09

Before I get started, I want to thank the entire BoredWrestlingFan staff for all of their contributions to WrestleMania week.  Overall we finished with 331 page views on the week, which is more than we had in some of our early months here.  Great job, guys!  Tonight on RAW, we’ll see a 10 Diva tag team match with five of RAW’s Divas vs. five of SmackDown’s Divas.  We’ll see Miz and Morrison get their chance at redemption as they get a rematch with Carlito and Primo for the unified tag team championships, and according to Joey Styles himself, tonight’s RAW Main Event is an “All-Star WrestleMania Tag”:  Cena, Hardy, Punk, Dragon and Mysterio vs. Edge, Show, Hardy, Jericho and Kane (source:  twitter.com/WWEJoeyStyles).  There’s also been a rumor that Randy Orton might be getting another chance at the WWE Championship as well, but again, it’s only a rumor.

Will anybody bother to step up and try to top HBK/Undertaker as a potential Match of the Year?  We’ll find out tonight!  Results after the jump! (more…)

  6. WWE RAW Review – 3/30/09

We’re on the final stretch of the Road to WrestleMania.  There’s just a little bit more scenery to take in before we hit the exit ramp and head to Reliant Stadium for the biggest show of them all.  Speaking of The Big Show, he’s taking on John Cena tonight!  What else is happening?  I guess you’ll find out when I will!

Full RAW results, after the jump! (more…)

  7. How I would have booked WrestleMania 25

Welcome to WrestleMania week here on BoredWrestlingFan.com!  We’re working overtime this week to bring you WrestleMania related articles throughout the week, and this one is just the first.  I want to take the opportunity to talk about the way that I would have booked WrestleMania, starting from the Royal Rumble.  Some things would have still played out the way that they have, but other things would have been much different.

How different?  Find out after the jump! (more…)

  8. Conspicuous by his absense…

I’m sure you guys may have noticed that, aside from my usual Sunday afternoon post, yours truly has been absent from BWF this week. Truth be told, I’ve been fighting an uphill battle with New York State over boring, non wrestling related stuff for the past two weeks, and I’ve just been burnt out. I’ve not only taken a few days away from BWF, I haven’t even watched ECW this week, nor have I watched the last 30 minutes of RAW.  I promise you a SmackDown review this week, which will either be posted before the show even airs in the US, or sometime this weekend.

Anyways, while I’ve been slacking around here, a new columnist (who still owes me for the window he broke when he hurled that brick with the mysterious note attached last week) made his debut.  Legend Killer is a wrestling fan from Australia who will grace us with his presense every Wednesday with his new column.  As far as I know, he is not Nathan Jones.  Though how awesome would that be?  We could ask him questions like, “how does it feel to see that the fact that you were technically The Undertaker’s tag team partner at WrestleMania XIX be completely ignored?”

There’s yet another new skin available for BWF.  It’s an nWo inspired theme called “Back In Black.”  Not only is the name also the title of an awesome song by AC/DC, it’s also the title of the WWE released nWo DVD back in 2002.

Finally, starting next Monday, it’s WrestleMania 25 week here at BoredWrestlingFan.  There will be a new WrestleMania themed article every day starting Monday and leading right through the event on Sunday.  Drowgoddess will be checking in with reports of the festivities around Houston leading up to the event as well.

That’s all for right now, if you still need your RAW fix, check out James Guttman’s RAW Insanity, and for ECW coverage, check out Mike Rickard’s Real Time Review, both courtesy of WorldWrestlingInsanity.com.

  9. New Skin: BlueMania 25

Hey guys, I just added a new skin to the list of choices. This one is a WrestleMania 25 inspired minimalist blue and silver themed skin called “BlueMania 25.”

Speaking of Blue, I haven’t watched SmackDown from this past Friday yet, but here are the results for your reading pleasure:

Triple H says he’s the cure for the disease that is Randy Orton. Then he beat Vladimir Kozlov.

MVP recaptured the United States Championship, defeating Shelton Benjamin.

    Shawn Michaels defeated Kane

Jeff Hardy beat The Brian Kendrick in an extreme rules match. We find out that Jeff’s match with brother Matt at WrestleMania will also be extreme rules.

The Von Erich family is being inducted into the hall of fame by Michael P.S. Hayes

    The Undertaker defeated JBL

Vickie Guerrero announced that the winner of the triple threat at WrestleMania will win her heart. This led to an altercation between Edge, The Big Show, and John Cena that left Vickie victimized by an accidental spear from Edge. Big Show carried Vickie off.

  10. RAW Review – 3:16/09 (WHAT?!?)

Tonight on Raw from the AT&T center In San Antonio Texas, it’s tag team action as Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker will take on Vladimir Kozlov and JBL.  Also tonight, another must see as Chris Jericho challenges WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair to come out of retirement and face him in a match, as Raw continues on the road to The  WrestleMania 25!
