  1. WWE RAW 7/7/14 – Tango India Tango Tango Yankee

Well, I managed to avoid social media this week.  No spoilers.  My wife did give an “oh shit!” to something she saw on the show while I was on the phone with her, but she didn’t tell me what it is.  So genuine surprises for me this week!  WooHoo!

Wow, they let Roman Reigns cut a promo on his own for once – and it wasn’t half bad.  And that brawl with Kane?  It’s always fun to see Fit Finlay, Jamie Noble, Mike Rotunda, Dean Malenko, and Joey Mercury get tossed around a bit too.

The Wyatt Family beat the Usos!  Too bad it was a non-title match.  Again.

WWE Network has a 90% satisfaction rate?  That’s not what I’ve been hearing.  That said, I’ll throw my approval their way.  Haven’t had any problems since that first couple weeks.

Isn’t the point of having one hand tied behind your back in a match to be handicap?  What’s the point of both Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox having their arms tied behind their backs?  The obvious setup, of course.  The fans chant bullshit.  Or maybe boring.  I can’t tell.  Thick French-Canadian accents in Montreal.

You know, if you’re trying to get Rusev over as a heel in Canada, shouldn’t you have him face a Canadian, and not Rob Van Dam?  FFW!  Rusev Wins.  Fatality.

Sign in the crowd for Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose:  “TANGO INDIA TANGO TANGO YANKEE.”  Brilliant.  They’re really letting Titty Master Moxley have a good showing against Ortbot.  Orton picks up the win, but credit where it’s due – what a match!  Let’s put it this way.  I write this stream of consciousness on Monday Night RAW so you don’t have to watch – but this… this is worth finding and watching.

Years ago at a local show called Ballpark Brawl, this dude was wearing a Mötley Crüe t-shirt that said “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and some guy yells “YOUR SHIRT SAYS ‘GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS,’ BUT YOU LIKE GUYS, GUYS, GUYS!”  I think of that every time I see Fandango’s pants with the world “Girls” written all over them.  And he’s only on commentary.  Ziggler vs. Del Rio is the match in the ring.  “Fandango is the Fonz of the WWE.  Hey.”  Del Rio wins off the distraction from Arthur Fandangorelli.

Cody Rhodes’ embracing of the Stardust character is just amazing.

Can’t have a show in Montreal without referencing Jerry Lawler’s heart attack or the 1997 Survivor Series.  So let’s have Lawler introduce Bret Hart.  I knew somebody would interrupt Bret – I wasn’t expecting Damien Sandow dressed as Bret Hart (or Bret Sandhart, as he called himself).  Though I probably should have been.  Hart decks Sandow and knocks him out of the ring.  Which in my opinion gives Sheamus an unfair advantage in his match with Sandow.  Which he, of course, wins.

Dammit, I missed the preview of “Monday Night Wars” on WWE Network.  D’oh!  Also, I’m bummed that the October 1989 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event is not on there yet either.  I want to watch Mr. Perfect destroy the WWF Championship.

Instead, I’ll watch Jericho vs. The Miz.  Jericho appears to be bleeding from somewhere near the ear.  Can’t get a good look at it though.  I can’t really tell how bad it is.  But it’s irrelevant I guess, since Jericho picked up the win with the Walls of Jericho.  Jericho should know better than to think he’ll get a clean shot at Bray Wyatt without Rowan and Harper standing in his way.

Two Diva matches on one show?  And this one is a tag team match – so that means six Divas wrestling on one show.  It’s the Funkadactyls against… Paige and AJ?  So this is a question of which team breaks up first.  Cameron, who was completely disinterested in this match, tags herself in and gets a Paige Turner for her trouble – and the loss.  Joey Styles isn’t on commentary for the brawl that breaks out between Cameron and Naomi to yell “CAT FIGHT!  CAT FIGHT!”

Cesaro’s five languages come in handy when he’s in Montreal.  I have no idea what he said in French, but I guess it doesn’t matter since they speak Quebecois in Montreal anyway.  And Cesaro loses to Kofi Kingston again.  Big E saves Kofi from the beatdown.  Why is Cesaro jobbing to this jobber-to-the-stars?

Bo Dallas vs. Diego of Los Matadores.  Now where have I seen this before?  Oh, that’s right.  This past Friday on SmackDown.  Oh wait.  He’s wrestling El Torito.  Bo wins, of course.  You know, I’d like to see a match between Los Matadores & El Torito against Bull Dempsey or whatever the dude’s name is in NXT.  They’re bullfighters, right?

I FFW through the main event (John Cena vs. Seth Rollins) to see Kane and Orton attack Cena.  The predictable ending of Cena getting knocked out only to have the WWE World Heavyweight Championship saved from a cash-in by Dean Ambrose happens again.  Then Super Cena hits an AA on Orton, and gets saved from Kane by a Roman Reigns spear.  The end.

Not a bad episode of RAW, IMO.  I think the “oh shit!” from my wife was AJ being Paige’s partner.  Ambrose/Orton is worth watching.  Now to see if I can’t find me a copy of the Monday Night War preview.  See you all Sunday for BWF Radio!

  3. WWE RAW 2/24/14 – At least the USA Network works!

Varying degrees of success have been reported by friends of mine attempting to access the WWE Network.  BWF Radio PPV panelist Gary Barnidge of the Cleveland Browns reports that he couldn’t sign up at all.  Our own JT had difficulty registering as well and can’t seem to access any of the content.  The same holds true for our buddy Cassidy from Cheap-Heat as well as my cousin Steve.  My good friend Scott chimed in to report that he was having no issues whatsoever accessing the WWE Network via his PS4, though the same can’t be said for me with my Xbox 360.  Hell, as I type this, I’m having difficulty trying to access a video on the service via my tablet.  So, a rough launch for the WWE Network.  I did, however, catch the RAW pre-show with Alex Riley, Booker T, and Ric Flair, so at least the live streaming works.  But we’re not here to talk about the issues with the WWE Network, we’re here to talk about Monday Night RAW!

I did this a little differently tonight.  I actually decided to drive to work, so I managed to catch the first couple hours of the show.  But there are things I want to go over, so I’m going to watch some of it again as I review.  So, let’s go!

I don’t wanna do this, I wanna watch the WWE Network.  I know it works with Internet Explorer on PCs!  Oh well.

  5. Raw is Boxing Day 12-26-11

Happy Boxing Day to you and yours. My wife made my grandmother’s recipe of macaroni and cheese tonight, so I am a very happy man. I am also coming off my post-Christmas holiday. I spent today watching the King of the Deathmatch Tournament from IWA-MidSouth II from 2011. I will simply say that I have never called anything garbage wrestling, but that was it. There were some good names there like MASADA & BJ Whitmer, but it was pretty awful. They had the stereo-typical “gay” character who set wrestling back 20 years. The announcer did nothing but imitate Joey Styles and even used insider terms. And they had no idea of the progression of matches. Every match was so hardcore, by the time you got to the main event, there was no “Holy s***, this is the main event” moment. Sometimes, you watch a promotion and think, “Hm, I’d like to see them again.” This was so bad, I don’t think I’ll be getting this year’s KOTDM Tournament.

But enough of a retread. They opened up in Chicago (in CM Punk’s hometown) with CM Punk’s music. Out came Johnny Ace dressed in CM Punk’s outfit. He tried to make a guantlet match featuring CM Punk. Then Punk tried to get Ace to accept a match with him. Groan… Punk was just missing something. Really can’t put my finger on it.

Booker T is wrestling Cody Rhodes. Again. I ended up not seeing TLC, but wasn’t I just supposed to pay money for this? It just seems like we’re getting the same matches over and over and over again. They are not squash matches if the loser looks like they have a chance of winning. The WWE product is so repetitive that there’s no newness to their matches. Booker T won. As glad as I am to see him win, why did we have to watch that?

Zack Ryder is thanking John Cena. All along Zack Ryder had it in himself.

Kelly Kelly and Big Show are hawking an app of some kind. Then Scotty Armstrong tells Big Show that Johnny Ace needs him now!

So Big Show punched David Otunga on Smackdown. Then Show said he could beat Otunga with one hand tied behind his back. I guess they are watching old nWo footage. Now Dolph and Swagger are arguing. It was pretty fun until the Planet of the Apes comment. That just sounded so 10-year-old on the playground. Ugh, just soooooooo bad.

Eve an Zack Ryder come out to the ring. They seemed to get pretty decent crowd reactions. Then there was Tyson Kidd and Nattie Neidhart. It was actually not too bad of a match. I think the referee fell out of the ring as he was making the 3rd count. How botchariffic.

Cena came out and cut a really forced promo praising the city of Chicago. He called out Kane and got The Miz. Miz wanted Cena. Cena accepted. A few minutes into the match, Miz couldn’t handle that people weren’t chanting for him. So he cuts a promo on Chicago and gets counted out. Are you f***ing kidding me? As he’s done, we get the R-Truth return. I really liked his return.

We were saved from the retro nWo match by Big Show. It was short and painless. Mark Henry came out. Daniel Bryan came out. Then it was just Big Show and David Otunga in the ring. He channeled The Giant of old and did a chokeslam like he’d just joined the nWo all over again.

Then Alberto Del Rio came out in a wheelchair. He told us all that he had a torn groin. Then the fans laughed. Classy. Then the Bellas got to fight over who could throw a party to help him recover. Awful.

Swagger jobbed first. Then he attacked Punk to wear him down for Ziggler. I liked Punk and Ziggler’s work. Ace stopped the match, distracted Punk and then Ziggler pinned Punk. What a good opportunity for Ziggler. No hate over getting to watch those two. Just that I watched this match not too long ago.

AAA’s El Zorro  Kane is walking to the ring. He starts explaining and Cena’s music hit. Kane cut a very nice promo explaining why he attacked Cena. He wanted Cena to give in to the hate. I thought Kane delivered his lines very well. I just felt like I was watching Empire Strikes Back.

Overall, I’d have to say this was an awful Raw. There was nothing that got my attention for this show. The most exciting thing was R-Truth’s return. Remember yesterday when the Mavericks stunk up their home court? Let’s say the fans start booing Dirk. Does he get on the mic and ask how dare they boo him? That’s what we got with the Miz. It was uninspired, outright insulting and nothing worth seeing.

  6. A case for the Hall of Fame: Chris Jericho

On June 22, 1996, Pitbull #2 was upended in a match for the ECW World Television Championship.  It was his opponent’s first championship in North America, and announcer Joey Styles noted that fact, stating that while it may have been his first title in the United States, it sure wouldn’t be his last.  Little did he know how right he’d be.

  7. WWE RAW Review – 4/6/09

Before I get started, I want to thank the entire BoredWrestlingFan staff for all of their contributions to WrestleMania week.  Overall we finished with 331 page views on the week, which is more than we had in some of our early months here.  Great job, guys!  Tonight on RAW, we’ll see a 10 Diva tag team match with five of RAW’s Divas vs. five of SmackDown’s Divas.  We’ll see Miz and Morrison get their chance at redemption as they get a rematch with Carlito and Primo for the unified tag team championships, and according to Joey Styles himself, tonight’s RAW Main Event is an “All-Star WrestleMania Tag”:  Cena, Hardy, Punk, Dragon and Mysterio vs. Edge, Show, Hardy, Jericho and Kane (source:  twitter.com/WWEJoeyStyles).  There’s also been a rumor that Randy Orton might be getting another chance at the WWE Championship as well, but again, it’s only a rumor.

Will anybody bother to step up and try to top HBK/Undertaker as a potential Match of the Year?  We’ll find out tonight!  Results after the jump! (more…)

  9. 2009 TNA Wish List

(or “Ten Things I Don’t Want to Hate About You”)

Rather than review the “Best of” show that aired on Spike TV, your Empress of “Impact” has decided to begin 2009 with a wish list for TNA. Many people have commented that this new year has to be better for TNA because it couldn’t possibly get any worse. Whether you personally believe that or not, I have compiled a list of ten things which TNA should make happen in order for 2009 to be their banner year. They are in no particular order.

  10. (WW)ECW on Sci-Fi, 7/29/08

Sorry this post is extremely late today guys, I actually had most of it written last night and was expecting to have it up pretty early today, but then some douchebag didn’t show up for work, so I ended up stuck there for another two hours.  In any event, last night’s show was pretty decent, compared to other post-draft episodes of ECW on Sci-Fi, but if you missed it, unless you’re really bored you can probably skip the X-stream on WWE.com.
