  1. WWE SmackDown review 4/30/10

Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?  I haven’t reviewed a WWE show in weeks.  Hell, I didn’t review anything at all for the past couple of weeks.  I’ve just been burnt out, guys, and for that I apologize.  In any event, I’m here now, parked in front of the TV and ready for SmackDown – so let’s go!

Happy Hallloween to all my Peeps!  Let’s get this thing started already.

Match 1: Jack Swagger vs Primo

Jack Swagger has yet to lose since he made the declaration that he would not lose for the rest of the year.  The match starts off with a wrestling exhibition by Swagger.  Primo’s quickness seems to trump Jack’s power, until Swagger catches him. Primo fights back with another quick burst, but Swagger’s strength proves to be too much for the younger Colon.  The All-American American gets the win with the Gutwrench Powerbomb.

    Ask the Divas segment….boooooooooo!

Match 2:  Kelly Kelly vs Alicia Fox

Kelly Kelly is hot!  Alicia Fox is not!  That’s really all that is important about this match.  Alicia Fox wins with the Ax Kick.

Backstage:  Hart Dynasty and Mike Knox talking about their gameplan.

Match 3:  Woo Woo Woo!  You know it!!!  Zack Ryder vs Tyler Reks

I know my buddy RDLee hates him, but Zack Ryder is a star!  I originally wasn’t sold on him, but he has slowly grown on me.  He is, however, wearing some God awful silver boots for this match.  Tyler Reks needs to learn how to walk properly.  This was a back and forth match, where both guys got in offense, but Zack Ryder wins with the Zack Attack.

Match 3:  Hart Dynasty and Mike Knox vs Cryme Tyme and R-Truth

Hey WWE, segregate much???  It’s funny how the Hart Dynasty and R-Truth were hugging on Sunday, now they hate each other again.  Oh how brand warfare unites.  Kidd and JTG start things off.  Very even matchup until Knox gets the tag.  Knox then comes in and overpowers JTG.  JTG makes the tag to Shad and things even back up.  Knox tosses Shad to the outside, as they go to commercial.  When the match comes back on the air, Shad is fighting back and Knox makes the tag to David Hart Smith.  DH tags in Kidd for a quick kick to the back and Kidd tags in Knox for a back splash.  Shad makes the tag to Truth and Knox tags in Kidd.  Truth handles his business until Knox lands a big boot.  JTG clotheslines Knox over the ropes, DH gets the big boot on JTG and Truth tosses DH over the ropes.  Truth hits the Lie Detector for the win over Tyson Kidd. WHATS UP?!?!

Have a safe Halloween and I’ll see you next week.  Peace!

Hey everybody…let’s get this thing started.

Match 1:  Yo yo yo yo yo yo yo…Its your boys, Cryme Time accompanied by Eve Torres against the Hart Dynasty

Shad and David Hart Smith start the match off.  DH is huge, but Shad is gigantic!  The Hart Dynasty works on Shad’s knee after a chop block by Tyson Kidd.  Once Shad gets the tag, JTG gets the pin on Tyson Kidd after a chaotic sequence that ended in a modified back breaker.

Rey Rey is out to address the Intercontinental title situation.  Obviously Dolph Ziggler is going to be his opponent at Night of Champions.  Ziggler comes out to remind people what his name is.  Challenge made for NoC…challenge accepted for NoC.  Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental title at Night of Champions.  A fight ensues and Dolph Ziggler runs away from Rey Mysterio.  What???  I forgot that Rey Rey is that scary.

Match 2:  Diva match between Katie Lea and Brie Bella w/ Nikki Bella

Diva wrestling = Crap…Anyway, the twins confuse the referee and one of them gets the rollup win on Katie Lea

Main Event:  United States Champ Kofi Kingston against the Big Show

Big Show dominates early on.  Shouldn’t Show be in the World Title hunt?  Big Show dominates the middle of the match.  Shouldn’t Show be in the World Title hunt?  Kofi tries to fight back, but Big Show shuts him back down.  After a miss in the corner, Kofi tries to come back again, but Show shuts him down again.  The quickness of Kofi takes Show down.  Trouble in Paradise is blocked and Show Chokeslams the US Champ.  Big Show gets the win.

Why is Big Show taking out Kofi on every televised show, only to lose to him at NoC?  Shouldn’t he be in the World Title picture?  Why isn’t Ted DiBiase taking on Kofi right now?  Otherwise, the show saw random rivalries resume for no real reason.  Bella Twins vs Katie Lea = random diva rivalry.  Hart Dynasty vs Cryme Time = random tag team rivalry unless it leads to a number one contenders match.

Alrighty then folks…join me again for next week’s random mess otherwise known as WWE Superstars.

Giggity giggity giggity it’s time for this week’s review of WWE Superstars… Let’s go!

Right out of the gate we get the opening match.  Rey Rey against the Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin, with special guest commentating from the Shaman of Sexy, the Guru of Greatness, the Friday Night Delight John Morrison.

This beginning of this match was awesome!!!  Tons of flying and bumping.  Rey jumped off of the apron and connected with a hurricanrana on Shelton on the outside.  Shelton manhandled Rey a little bit during the match, as most people do.  Loads of athleticism were on display during this really good match.  The greatest line of the match was when Morrison called Shelton “Socially awkward.”  Why hasn’t Shelton/Morrison been announced for Judgement Day?!  That would be a fantastic match.  Rey gets the win with the 619 and springboard splash.  This match was great and gets a 9.8 out of 10…it was that good!  After the match, Morrison and Shelton got in each other’s face and Morrison layed Benjamin out.

Match number two is Mizark Hizenry facing the ECW CHAMPION…Captain Charisma…Christian!!!  This review will be full of plugs for Christian.  I can feel it now.

This one starts off with Big Mark displaying his power as well as Christian ability to sell and take bumps.  The quickness and smarts of Christian sends Henry to outside and he hits a baseball slide.  Back from commercial break, Christian continues to exhibit his bumping ability, as he allows Mark Henry to dominate the match offensively.  Christians speed and passion take Mark Henry down, as he hits a dropkick from the top rope.  His agility got him out of several power move attempts by Henry, and he eventually hits a crossbody off the middle rope to pin the World’s Strongest Man.  How can anybody deny that Captain Charisma is World Champion material?!  The guy is gold!!!!!  I give this match a 10 out of 10.  Not really, but it gets that because Christian was in it and got the win (it really was about an 8 out of 10).

Match number 3 is Big Show against Hornswoggle!  HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

This was billed as an exhibition match for Show.  The Big Show picked up the troll and placed him on the top rope and allowed him to do his tadpole splash, but Show moved out of the way.  HAHAHA!  This was rather humorous.  He placed him up on the top a second time, but Goldust did a run-in to rescue the midget and got a chokeslam and camelclutch for his efforts from the Big Show.  This was funny, but pointless.  Since this was not even a match, it gets no rating.

The show was one of the better Superstars so far.  At least it didn’t involve any diva wrestling.  The show gets a 8.5 out of 10.  The last segment hurt it a little bit.  Now for a fact of life as I know it…the Houston Rockets are the worst team in the NBA without Yao and T-Mac.  How are the Lakers having so much trouble with them?  This proves they aren’t as great as everybody thinks they are!!! Kobe SUCKS!!!  Thanks for reading and see you next week.

Hey people!  Let’s get this review of WWE Superstars going.

First Match is a Diva’s Tag Match pairing Gail Kim and the very delicious Maria against Alicia Fox and Michelle McCool

The match starts off with Gail Kim against Alicia Fox.  Kim starts on the offense then tags Maria in, who continues the attack.  Alicia Fox throws Maria into the ropes and McCool kicks her in the back o’ the head.  A couple of quick tags in the Fox/McCool corner take place and Michelle McCool starts to wear Maria down.  Gail Kim distracts McCool and Maria kicks her in the head and makes her way over to Kim for the tag.  Kim hits a neckbreaker off the top rope.  Kim goes up for another top rope manuever, but McCool executes a kick to Kim and makes the cover for the 3-count.  Winner : Michelle McCool and Alicia Fox.  I give this match a 4 out of 10.  I’m not the biggest fan of Diva wrestling, and this was a very average match.

Next up is Pirate Paul….oh wait its just Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea now against Evan Bourne

Paul Burchill starts off with the offense, but Bourne turns the tables with his quickness.  Burchill’s strength puts him back in control for a bit.  The quickness of Air Bourne gives him some offense, but he seemingly hurts his knee.  Burchill focuses in on that knee with the help of his sister Katie Lea at ringside.  Bourne battles back and takes Burchill down with a series of kicks.  Bourne goes for the Shooting Star Press, but Burchill climbs the ropes to prevent it.  Bourne then punches him of the ropes and Burchill lands on his back, and Shooting Star Press for Bourne for the win.  I love that move.  It is the prettiest move I have ever seen.  I give this match a 7.5 out of 10.  I wish Bourne had gotten more high flying spots, but both men worked well.

Backstage interview with Cody Whodth and Ted DiBiase.  Does anybody else like Legacy as much as me?

Oh yeah…Christian is the new ECW champion!  There it is….my Cheap Christian plug of the week.  I hope the PEEPulation is growing!

Anywho…the main event of the evening is Ted Dibiase 2.0 against one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, Carlito

The lock up has TD2 sending Carlito into the corner and beating him down.  Carlito then switches it and beats on Dibiase.  Good back and forth matchup to start the match.  Pretty cool spot with both men going over the top to the outside happens, as Superstars goes to break.  Back from break, DiBiase is on the attack and stomps Carlito into the mat.  TD2 is very Randy Ortonesque in the ring.  Dibiase hits his Million Dollar Dream Slam when Carlito tries a springboard elbow.  Winner of the match is Ted Dibiase.  I give this match a 8.5 out of 10.  Both men are legit in the ring, and it blows my mind how Carlito has never gotten a main event shot.

The show was pretty good, with the exception of the Diva Tag match.  I like them giving airtime to Ted Dibiase on here.  He is definitely a future main eventer and needs the exposure.  I guess its time to leave you with a fact of life as I know it.  Most Diva wrestling sucks!!!  Peace out peoples.

  7. ECW 8/5/08

ECW is getting back on track.  The WWE knows what works and what doesn’t, and they’re straying away from the boring stuff that they had done for a couple of weeks post-draft.

Last night’s episode featured a live edition of The Dirt Sheet, a tag match featuring Ricky Ortiz and Evan Bourne taking on Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely, and Armando Estrada getting his last chance to earn an ECW contract, taking on Tommy Dreamer.
