  1. Revenge Storylines: Why They Don’t Happen

Welcome, it’s your once regular but could now only be described as freelance writer for BWF back again, with another random column. This time, I’ve been looking back to the past as I do, and it got me thinking.. what if someone got revenge on another, by doing the same thing, that the original person done in the first place, rather than just beating them in a match?

If that intro makes no sense, it’s because I could not word the intro. The idea was there, but when it came time to write a suitable intro the the piece.. nothing. So that was the best I could come up with.. anyways, to try and explain the intro.

Big Show gets revenge on the Big Bossman for towing Big Show’s daddy’s coffin away during the funeral.

As we all know, leading up to the Survivor Series PPV of 1999, the Big Show, lost his father. This allowed the number one contender, the Big Bossman, to take advantage of the situation. After reading out a poem degrading the Big Show’s father, he then persuaded the Big Show’s mother to admit that the Big Show was an illegitimate child or bastard. But the most memorable moment of this feud, occured on the 11/11/99 edition of WWF SmackDown!, in which the Big Bossman, interrupting the funeral of the Big Show’s father, towed the casket away in his police car, with the Big Show trying to stop it. Now, these two would compete at the Survivor Series, in which the Big Show defeated the Big Bossman, Prince Albert, Mideon and Viscera in a 4-1 Survivor Series. The feud would continue to Armageddon, in which the Big Show finally got his revenge on the Big Bossman, by defeating him in a one-on-one match, even though Prince Albert tried to intefere on the Bissman’s behalf, only to be treated to a trip through the Spanish Announce table, courtesy of the Big Show.

In 2004.. the Big Bossman passed away of a heart attack at age 41.

What if the storyline read.. the Big Show wanted the ultimate revenge. Five long years after the Big Bossman towed the Big Show’s father’s casket away from the burial site to god knows where (Where did the Big Bossman take that casket.. maybe that’s another column), the Big Show gets revenge by towing the Big Bossman’s casket away from his family, during the burial process, thus finally getting revenge on the man who ruined his life five years earlier. In 2004, the Big Show wasn’t really seen on WWE television, until Septembe, when he interfered in a Kurt Angle/Eddie Guerrero Lumberjack match.

Rumour has it, that if A-Train, Prince Albert’s new persona, was not injured on the June 21, 2004 edition of WWE Raw, that the Big Show and Albert would feud, and that the Big Show would in fact tow the casket of the Big Bossman, A-Train’s running buddy at the time. However, at the time, the Big Bossman had not passed, and the Big Show returned to feud with Kurt Angle. However, when the Bossman did pass away September 22 of that year, the WWE were so angry, that they fired A-Train on November 1, and the whole revenge feud was dropped.

And that my friends, is the reason why people get revenge by winning matches in the wrestling business, and not by other means.

  2. Why I hate: WWE Armageddon

Wow.  This is it, the end of this long series on WWE Pay Per View.  How fitting is it that it ends with Armageddon.  The last WWE Pay Per View of the year and the only one between Survivor Series and Royal Rumble.

  3. Why I hate: WWE Cyber Sunday

This article is part 9 of a series on WWE Pay Per View events.  See also:  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, and Part 8.

WWE Fans tend to think that they’re just as much a part of the show as the performers in the ring.  To an extent, they are.  A hot crowd can make a mediocre match feel like a five star classic.  Fans reactions to performers can even influence how the Superstars’ careers turn out.  Steve Austin is a prime example of a guy who promoters didn’t know what to do with until the crowd got behind him and made him, arguably, one of the biggest names in the history of the industry.  Make no mistake about it, if the fans didn’t get behind him, he wouldn’t be going into the Hall of Fame in a couple of weeks.  So since the fans are an important part of the show anyway, why not give them the book, right?

  4. A look at the Hardys storyline

By now, we all know that Matt Hardy turned on his brother Jeff this past Sunday at the Royal Rumble, blasting him with a chair and costing him the WWE Championship. From that point, several fans of the Hardys came out of the woodwork to condemn Matt’s actions on his MySpace, many of whom seem to believe that because Matt turned on Jeff, it automatically means that Matt was behind everything that’s happened to Jeff since Survivor Series in November. I’m here to tell you why it wasn’t Matt Hardy behind the attacks.

First, there was the attack the night before Survivor Series. Jeff is out of action, he can’t compete in the WWE Championship match, and Edge swoops in to win the title. The following Friday on SmackDown, Jeff competed in a “Beat the Clock Challenge.” Jeff’s match was first, where he set the pace. Matt was the opponent of Vladimir Kozlov in the challenge, and he did everything in his power to prevent Kozlov from beating Jeff’s time. This shows Matt as being supportive of his brother, rather than trying to harm him. Ultimately, Jeff tied with Triple H in the challenge and went on to a Triple Threat match at Armageddon.

Triple H had the WWE Championship won at Armageddon when Vladimir Kozlov interfered and prevented him from getting the pinfall on Edge. Matt came out and attacked Kozlov. Matt’s attack on Kozlov would make no sense if he were working with Edge, because Edge was the one Kozlov saved. Jeff went on to win the match and the WWE Championship.

In the weeks that followed, the Hardys worked together, competing in tag team matches and supporting each other as a part of the “Hardy Party,” which saw both men as World Champions. A few weeks later, mysterious things started to happen to Jeff.

First, there was the hit-and-run accident. If you watch the “police video,” the policeman asked Jeff if he know the person who hit him. Jeff said that he’d never seen him before in his life. I’m pretty sure that Jeff would have recognized his own brother, even if he didn’t know the vehicle.

Over the course of the next week, Matt loses the ECW Championship to Jack Swagger, and Jeff returns to SmackDown, only to be blown up when the pyrotechnics were tampered with. This is the only thing that’s happened to Jeff that the storyline will allow me to believe could have been done by Matt. Matt was in the building, Matt was upset because he lost his title, and perhaps he was jealous because Jeff still had his. Not to mention that Matt was the last person to come out and check on his little brother as he was being rolled away on a stretcher.

The attack at the Royal Rumble shouldn’t have been that surprising, and maybe things look suspicious, but if you look at the facts presented here, it’s clearly not Matt who did all those crazy things to Jeff…

  5. SmackDown on DVR review – 12/26/08

Well, I guess I have no excuses not to review the WWE shows anymore – I lost my job yesterday.  Damned George W Bush.  Oh well, that’s almost over.  What’s not over?  Jeff Hardy’s WWE Championship reign! After winning the title in Buffalo at Armageddon, he survived an assault from Vladimir Kozlov and Edge last week, with a little help from Triple H.  What’s SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero got in store for the Unique Enigma this week?  We’ll soon find out!

  6. Quick Armageddon picks!

I’ve been sitting on my ass the last four hours and haven’t even thought about Armageddon until just now. There’s less than 8 minutes until the show, so I’m going to run through the card real quick and give you my predictions!

Jericho vs. Cena – World Title – Cena

Edge vs. Jeff Hardy vs. HHH – Edge.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio – Punk. I was going to say Mysterio, but after Punk dropped the tag titles last night, it seems more logical that he’d be in line for the Intercontinental Championship.

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov – Kozlov

Batista vs. Randy Orton – Orton

Michelle McCool, Maria, Mickie James & Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria, Natalya, Jillian & Maryse – I didn’t even know about this one, but I’m going to say Victoria’s team.

Finlay vs. Mark Henry – Whoever wins, hopefully this will be the end of it. Which would indicate that Finlay will probably win.

Enjoy Armageddon, I’ll be around tomorrow with a review!

  7. RAW on DVR review – 12/1/08

Ugh.  Another Monday, another RAW.  These have been the bane of my existence since Drowgoddess started doing the iMPACT reviews here on BoredWrestlingFan.com.  The show has just been extremely stale lately.  They need a debut, a huge return, or something.  I know what you’re thinking; “But JoE, John Cena just returned 8 days ago!”  That doesn’t count.  Cena was only gone three months and had a month worth of promos shoved down our gullets three times a week.  He comes back, and he’s the World Heavyweight Champion.  That’s another story, however, and we’ll talk about that later.  We’ve got a show to watch on DVR and review!
