    Old School!

    Old School!

Oh the weather outside is frightful – so it’s a good day to stay inside for a podcast.  With wind chill temperatures hovering around -30 Fahrenheit, Joe invited the BWF crew to join him on Skype, and Mark accepted, followed a little later by JT.  The crew talk about Old School RAW, and it leads to discussions about Daniel Bryan, slow builds, and more.  The talk turns to the returning Batista (“basketballs don’t hold grudges,”) and then to WWE 2K14 DLC, the last set of which is available today.  Virgil’s career highlights are discussed, and comparisons are made between the heyday of Bruno Sammartino and today.  Stay in, stay warm, grab a hot beverage and tune in!

  2. WWE RAW 1/6/13 – OLD SCHOOL!

So, you guys know the deal – I usually watch 30 minutes of RAW, leave for work, and review the rest of this show in real time as I watch it.  Well, due to inclement weather here in Buffalo, I find myself sitting at home right now, having watched all but 30 minutes of RAW.  I went out to catch my bus to work, but although the local bus company insists that their buses were all running on time today, mine never showed up.  At the time I left, it was 11 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -20.  As I type this, it’s 1 with a wind chill of -32.  So, if you can’t tell, IT’S FUCKING COLD OUTSIDE!  So, I called my boss, told him I couldn’t make it in, then came home and watched the rest of Old School RAW.  Afterward, I did some DDP Yoga, so I’m here now to actually review the whole show.  Let’s go!

I watch 30 minutes of RAW, freeze my ass off waiting for a bus that never shows up, and then come home and watch the rest of RAW.  That’s how this particular RAW review works.   It’s only getting colder!

So.  G’s clone decided he wanted to take over my RAW review on Monday, huh?  Well then, two can play at that game.  G’s locked up in his own apartment basement (Team Alpha rescued JT, and caught G while he was trying to stop us), and I’m here to tell you all about… SmackDown?  This show is still on the air?  Oh well.  Fuck it.  It’s hopping time!

I watch, write, suffer, and succumb to this show, yet I have to put my first animated GIF below the fold so the dudes at Wonderpod don’t yell at me.  This is not your typical SmackDown review.  I have no intent of taking this show seriously, since it was taped almost a week ago, a day before RAW even aired – and RAW was live, so I don’t expect a lot of storyline advancement out of this show.  So fuck it, let’s go!  And fuck you, RAW review!

  4. WWE RAW 12/23/13 – RAW is CHRISTMAS. Yay.

I’m in a great mood and having a great night.  First the Buffalo Sabres win a game by shooting the puck down the pants of Phoenix Coyotes’ goaltender Mike Smith – literally.  Then my 49ers clinch a playoff spot by defeating the Atlanta Falcons.  Then I got to hang out with Jorge for a few as he dropped off a brand new copy of Kick-Ass on BluRay, replacing my lost DVD copy.  But now, I have to watch RAW.  CHRISTMAS RAW.  These are NEVER good.  EVER.  And the little bit I saw before I left for work isn’t exactly filling me with hope for this particular edition.  So, despite my better judgment, let’s go.

I watch three hours of this crap so you can read it and pick what you think might be interesting to watch on the DVR later.  I should get paid for this.  It’s a terrible job sometimes.

“It wasn’t supposed to be like this, Bryan! We could have been friends!” Crab Walk…. That was creepy. And so it begins… Mayor McCheese holds all of the titles with a side of french fries. When I last saw him, he only still had the soda, Mr. White. (P.S. Mr. Pink survived. Deal with it).

    Oh yeah, wrestling is on.

  6. WWE RAW 12/10/13 – The Slammy Awards

While I believe Mark did an excellent job filling in for me last week, an event the caliber of the Slammys needs something special.  And as such, I’ve gone out and gotten a Slammy Award winner to write the RAW review this week – me!  Yes, it is I, the Slammy Award Winning ThinkSoJoE taking the helm once again as RAW presents the 2013 Slammy Awards!  Earlier today, yours truly won one of the WWE.com Slammys.  Don’t believe me?  Look!

I was there! Slammy Award Winner, baby!

I was there! Slammy Award Winner, baby!

    Anyways, I digress.  Let’s roll!

I watch 30 minutes of RAW, then leave for work, then review the rest of RAW in real-time as I watch it.  Except for when I fast-forward.  Then it’s not really “real-time,” I guess.  In any event, this review is being written by a Slammy Award Winner.  The SmackDown review can’t say that.  The RAW review can.  So that makes the RAW review better!  Of course, since it’s a popularity contest, I’ll probably lose the BWF Award.  I give them a place to talk wrestling and they like that G guy better than me.  Bastards.

This is exactly what Jorge will look like when he’s doing RWR tomorrow night.

This week, the crew discuss independent wrestling, as Joe and Jorge recount their experience at Empire State Wrestling’s “WrestleBash” event.  Joe, Jorge, JT, G, and Mark are joined by Topher of ProWrestlingPowerhouse, and unexpectedly by Doc Knight and KATANA from Original Stampede Wrestling.  We cover most of wrestling television from the week, discuss the lack of continuity in the Brie Bella/Daniel Bryan WWE television relationship, and ponder the absurdity that was the Michael Strahan/Titus O’Neil/Miz segment from RAW.  In the news, are the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships really being unified?  What did Matt Hardy think of RAW?  Where is AJ Styles going next?  And more importantly, how is The Dynamite Kid doing after his recent strokes?  All these questions are answered to the best of our ability on BWF Radio!  Tune in!
