  2. WWE Superstars Review

Its the first WWE Superstars after Summerslam.  Let’s go.

Match 1:  The All-American American Jack Swagger vs Mr Cartwheel…Primo

Get down on your knees!  I’m a big fan of Jack Swagger…Jerk of the Month in WWE Magazine or not.  The All-American American gets the win with his Gut Wrench Powerbomb.  After the match, he gets on the mic and says we are looking at the only Superstar born to be the US champ.  Watch out Kofi!

Ask the Divas segment….”How do I know if a girl likes me?”

We see Gregory Helms enter the boiler room and out comes The Hurricane!

Match 2:  The Hurricane vs Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea

Stand back!  There’s a Hurricane coming through.  Katie Lea needs to stop wearing her make-up like that.  She looks horrendous.  Paul Burchill has gotten fat.  The Ripper gets the win with the interference from his sister.

Main Event Triple Threat:  Dolph Ziggler vs Finlay vs Mike Knox

Winner of this match faces Rey Mysterio at Breaking Point for the Intercontinental title.  Dolph says Mysterio’s win at Summerslam was a fluke.  Mike Knox is severely under-utilized.  That guy is a big sumuma-gun.  He attempts to hit Finlay with the sheleleigh (spell check), but misses and Finlay hits the Celtic Cross.  Finlay for the pin, but Dolph throws him off and gets the pin for himself.

This show was better than the recent ones have been.  At least they made sense this week.  Check me out again next week and see if Superstars can remain sensable.

  3. WWE Superstars review…3 days late

Alright my peeps.  I’m here.  I’m not dead.  I finally have a chance to watch the show from Thursday night.  Lets go.

Match 1:  Its-a-he Santino vs the Masterpiece Chris Masters

Santino’s face when Masters came out was priceless!  Santino tried to go Karate Kid on Masters, then did an acrabatic roll to the other side of the ring.  Once Masters got ahold of Santino, it was downhill from there for him.  For a little bit of humor (what else is Santino good for) he tried to apply the Masterlock on Chris Masters, only to get dominated again.  Masters wins with the Masterlock after Santino attempted to “Hulk-up.”

Match 2:  William Regal and Paul Burchill vs Tyler Reks and Yoshi Tatsu

My fiance totally marked out for Yoshi when he came out.  Match started out with Yoshi and Burchill.  Wouldn’t Burchill have fit better in ECW 3 years ago when he was Pirate Paul and when ECW was mainly a gimmick show?  Regal flips over an attempted springboard splash pin for the win over Tyler Reks.  Tyler Reks is awkward.  He looks like he has something stuck in his butt when he walks.

Video package with John Cena throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game.

Main Event :  Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs Mike Knox

Mike Knox is severely under-utilized!  Dude is massive and burly.  Special guest commentator is Dolph Ziggler.  This is the typical Rey Mysterio match. He gets dominated the whole match by the much bigger opponent and then gets the win.  Rey hits the 619 and goes for the splash, only to have Dolph Ziggler pull him off the mat.  Rey gets the win via disqualification.

Santino was the only reason to watch this show, much like Raw.  There is a reason this show is on WGN…nobody wants to watch it.  Sometimes its good, sometimes its terrible, most of the time its random.  See ya next week.

  4. WWE Superstars Review

Hey people!  Let’s get this review of WWE Superstars going.

First Match is a Diva’s Tag Match pairing Gail Kim and the very delicious Maria against Alicia Fox and Michelle McCool

The match starts off with Gail Kim against Alicia Fox.  Kim starts on the offense then tags Maria in, who continues the attack.  Alicia Fox throws Maria into the ropes and McCool kicks her in the back o’ the head.  A couple of quick tags in the Fox/McCool corner take place and Michelle McCool starts to wear Maria down.  Gail Kim distracts McCool and Maria kicks her in the head and makes her way over to Kim for the tag.  Kim hits a neckbreaker off the top rope.  Kim goes up for another top rope manuever, but McCool executes a kick to Kim and makes the cover for the 3-count.  Winner : Michelle McCool and Alicia Fox.  I give this match a 4 out of 10.  I’m not the biggest fan of Diva wrestling, and this was a very average match.

Next up is Pirate Paul….oh wait its just Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea now against Evan Bourne

Paul Burchill starts off with the offense, but Bourne turns the tables with his quickness.  Burchill’s strength puts him back in control for a bit.  The quickness of Air Bourne gives him some offense, but he seemingly hurts his knee.  Burchill focuses in on that knee with the help of his sister Katie Lea at ringside.  Bourne battles back and takes Burchill down with a series of kicks.  Bourne goes for the Shooting Star Press, but Burchill climbs the ropes to prevent it.  Bourne then punches him of the ropes and Burchill lands on his back, and Shooting Star Press for Bourne for the win.  I love that move.  It is the prettiest move I have ever seen.  I give this match a 7.5 out of 10.  I wish Bourne had gotten more high flying spots, but both men worked well.

Backstage interview with Cody Whodth and Ted DiBiase.  Does anybody else like Legacy as much as me?

Oh yeah…Christian is the new ECW champion!  There it is….my Cheap Christian plug of the week.  I hope the PEEPulation is growing!

Anywho…the main event of the evening is Ted Dibiase 2.0 against one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, Carlito

The lock up has TD2 sending Carlito into the corner and beating him down.  Carlito then switches it and beats on Dibiase.  Good back and forth matchup to start the match.  Pretty cool spot with both men going over the top to the outside happens, as Superstars goes to break.  Back from break, DiBiase is on the attack and stomps Carlito into the mat.  TD2 is very Randy Ortonesque in the ring.  Dibiase hits his Million Dollar Dream Slam when Carlito tries a springboard elbow.  Winner of the match is Ted Dibiase.  I give this match a 8.5 out of 10.  Both men are legit in the ring, and it blows my mind how Carlito has never gotten a main event shot.

The show was pretty good, with the exception of the Diva Tag match.  I like them giving airtime to Ted Dibiase on here.  He is definitely a future main eventer and needs the exposure.  I guess its time to leave you with a fact of life as I know it.  Most Diva wrestling sucks!!!  Peace out peoples.

  5. Oversleeping on Tuesday: ECW 2/24/09

Ok, ok, I technically didn’t oversleep on Tuesday.  I just passed on watching ECW to cheer on my beloved Buffalo Sabres as they took on the Anaheim Ducks (and you have no idea how hard it was for me to not just type “The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim”).  Sadly, the Sabres lost 3-2.  The plan was to watch ECW at some point today, but I went out early and fell asleep when I came home.  I didn’t wake up until 10 minutes after I normally leave for work, so I still haven’t seen the show.  So, here I am with results in hand.   I’m not going to give a lot of insight to this episode, but only because I haven’t seen it and the results aren’t very detailed that I happen to have.

Mark Henry def. DJ Gabriel – Thanks for coming, DJ.  Now get your Alex Wright wannabe ass back to FCW.

Tyson Kidd def. Some Local Jobber – The dungeon has made many a championship wrestler.  Beating guys who aren’t important enough to mention their names more than once isn’t exactly how you go about winning championships, though.

Tommy Dreamer def. Paul Burchill – If this were the real ECW, this match would probably be a main event, probably would’ve lasted longer, Tommy would’ve still gotten the win, but with the assist from a telephone and some chicken wire (Tommy was like the MacGuyver of pro wrestling) instead of The Boogeyman, and Katie Lea probably would have eaten a piledriver.

Jack Swagger def. Christian to retain the ECW Championship – Swagger and Christian have each defeated each other in singles competition, Swagger getting his win when the title was on the line.  Hmm.  I wonder what they’re going to do with the ECW Championship at WrestleMania 25?

    Thanks for reading!
