  1. It’s nice to see the colour green once again

First of all, I have to welcome myself back, after being unable to provide the three of you who read my column each week. The reason why, is because someone in the household changed ISPs without meaning to, thus I lost my internet access. Also, as I write this, I have fallen ill. I get the best of luck don’t I? Anyways, let’s continue …

ZZ Top guest hosts RAW. I thought ZZ Top had three members?

The usage of Chavo Guerrero at the moment is nothing short of a complete joke. When he was in WCW, he was Cruiserweight Champion twice, and his talents were shows off each week. Recently, he’s been up against someone who strangely enough fits into THE Brian Kendrick’s jacket with ease from what I hear, Hornswoggle. Nobody should be “wrestling” Hornswoggle. Period.

Chris Jericho’s mystery partner is either Ted DiBiase, Mark Henry or Kane.

My future column for VinceRussoWatchesHisBeardGrow will elaborate on this further, but what happened to the good ‘ol days of watching wrestling? These days, the WWE is aimed at the kids, TNA is aimed at Kurt Angle and ROH has only just begun, and thus targeting anyone who’ll watch. What are the fans that have watched this product for years meant to enjoy? The fans who lived through the Attitude era flicking between RAW and Nitro? Why doesn’t pro wrestling care for these companies anymore?

UFC 100 was nothing short of awesome. Georges St. Pierre schooled Thiago Alves. Michael Bisping got dropped. Hard. Frank Mir got owned, and Brock Lesnar doesn’t like sponsors.

The Main Event Mafia hold 3/5 of the titles in TNA. Is the X-Divison and KnockOuts Championships not worthy of being owned by the MEM? Samoa Joe’s advisor, and one of the worst kept secrets in wrestling, Taz, was introduced at Victory Road. Notice how Joe, is the only member of MEM without a title belt? Is that because he didnt compete in another of the big two before arriving in TNA?

That’s all I can comment on for this week, sorry for the short column. As I said earlier, I’m unwell, and my head is spinning more and more as I type. Stay tuned for future columns by several BWF staff in the coming days. Who knows, you could see me again before the week is done.

  2. ThinkSoJoE’s Thoughts

Ive been a total slacker this week.  I missed ECW on SyFy, which sucks because I wanted to make fun of the name.  I managed to watch SmackDown on Friday Night, and had a review written, but my laptop decided it didn’t want to let me finish it.  I meant to write this article 24 hours ago, but wound up getting caught up in something completely different and forgetting to do so.  And just hours ago, I completely skipped out on a TNA house show.  JT won’t be doing the same later on today, hopefully he’ll have fun.

Anyways, I digress.  There was a lot of shit going on this week, so  let’s get to it!

  4. Creating New Stars: WWE

In a recent interview, TNA President Dixie Carter stated that the biggest challenge facing the business was “making new superstars.” The interview in its entirety can be read here:

  5. WWE RAW results 6/29/09

Fresh off of The Bash – I have no idea what’s going on tonight. Perhaps Carlito and Primo will have something to say about Edge and Chris Jericho winning the Unified Tag Team Championships last night? Hey, maybe Edge and Jericho will make an appearance! How about Randy Orton? Is his jaw still in tact after being brutally assaulted by The Game after a successful title defense last night? Who knows? I sure don’t, so let’s go!

  6. SmackDown results 6/26/09

I’ll admit it.  I’m not giving the blue brand the treatment it rightly deserves.  But cut me some slack – I went to a concert last Friday, and yesterday I sat around watching Michael Jackson videos all day while waiting for a package to arrive via UPS and was exhausted by time SmackDown rolled around.  Since I’m probably not going to have a chance later on today to watch it on my DVR, I’m gonna watch it on YouTube and review it here for you.  Plus it’ll help my last few hours of work go by quicker.

  7. WWE Superstars Review

Hey everybody and welcome to another review of the 4th most watched weekly WWE show…WWE Superstars.  Fresh off the heels of “Extreme Rules,” what happened?

Match 1: Diva tag team match between Rosa Mendez and Beth Phoenix and the Bella Twins

I hate Diva wrestling, but the Bella Twins are HOTT!  The end of the match saw the referee Marty Alias being distracted by Rosa and one of the twins fighting on the outside and Beth hit her finisher on the other twin.  Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendez get the win.

Is it just me, or is Superstars just really random?

After the match, there was a video package of the Batista/Randy Orton fued and showed HHH coming back to destroy Randy Orton yet again.

Match 2:  Evan Bourne against Zack Ryder.  Woo Woo Woo!

Zack Ryder is just weird.  He’s the type of guy you just want to make fun of because he thinks he is cool, but in reality he isn’t.  Doesn’t matter….he’ll be gone eventually.  Somehow he warrented a long enough match to involve a commercial break.  Anywho, Evan Bourne wins with the prettiest move in wrestling…the Shooting Star Press.  This was a pretty long match, or at least it felt long.

Main Event time:   The 9-time Intercontinental Champion, Chris Jericho against the Guru of Greatness, John Morrison.

This is yet another random match for WWE Superstars.  I like the pairing, but it makes no sense.  Jericho should be in the World Title picture, not doing IC spots.  Morrison should be the IC champ at this point in his career.  John Morrison can do anything he wants to in the ring.  He is the most athletic performer I have ever seen in a WWE ring.  The end of the match was extremely active,  as Morrison about won several times.  But in the end, Jericho gets the roll up with a tights grab on Morrison for the win.  I hope that this begins a fued, but as we have seen with Superstars in the past, it probably won’t.

The show was random as usual.  It seems like the perfect place to showcase Diva wrestling, the lower tier talent, and a main event that makes no sense to any storyline.  Alrighty then, I shall see you again next week and thank you for reading.
